Once upon a time, Mal gave Kaylee a pink iPod mini.
She has joined the ranks of the headphone-wearing masses, on the couch, curled up half-asleep, a book open on her lap. Even if it's bad for the binding.

This means, loosely translated, Banzai!*
Mr. Q. again leaps before he looks in his quest to dominate the couch. Mid-air, his battle cry turns more to Oshit!*
A very guilty-looking tabby lands smack-dab on the book. In a moment or two, the 'oshit' look on his face will turn to 'Imeanttodothat'. Enjoy it while you can.

She looks reproachfully at the cat.

He purrs at her. It's almost an attack in and of itself, a deep rumbling that could knock china off the shelves if the owner wasn't careful. He rubs his head against her shirt.
First bribe, then flee.

...scritching behind ears? Is this permissible?
no subject
Ohhhh, yeah.*
He loves the scritching and the purr, if anything, intensifies. His eyes close happily and he settles down into her lap.
Laps are for cats, not for books, you see. Then again, books are places for cats too.

Unfortunately.
This is why the petting does not stop.
no subject
Secondly, there are just too many pettings and laps and cats are addicted to purring.

Kaylee approves of engines.

"The book's not that bad, is it?"

And pulls out an earbud. "Shenme? Didn't catch that."

After a few minutes, she glances at Kaylee without lifting her head.

Book's kind of close to falling, though.

A minute later, softly, "Beware the gravity."

Another minute later:
Thud.
Kaylee sits up. "What?"
no subject
Faintly apologetic.

Looks down at the book.
Takes out the earbuds, and picks up the book, ruefully. "Teach me to doze off when I'm supposed to be readin'."
no subject
"Try a table."
