Atop a long table in one corner of the bar sits a row of punch bowls containing ladles and various cocktails: from margarita to plain screwdriver. These are accompanied by several bowls of ice, some containing various bottles of beer. There are stacks of plastic glasses, paper plates, napkins, and a large pile of ivy wreaths at one end. The drinks are buffet-style at this party, so help yourself.

There are plates scattered over the residual tables in the area, some overflowing with huge bunches of grapes, others containing savory fare such as chicken legs, hunks of bread, olives, cheese or humus dips.

To try and give an impromptu impression of a Roman/Greco theme, the tables have been topped with white tablecloths and chairs and surfaces strewn with ivy. If there had been a way to fashion columns or import colonnades in twenty four hours, Indy would have tried it. But ivy will have to do on short notice. At least its not poisonous.

*Meg thinks back.* Well, I don't remember any previous selves - but then, my father's sort of, you know, Endless, so it might be a special case.

"Your father is an Endless?" Ace moves from one topic that is stareworthy to another. "I... didn't think that could happen."

*Meg blinks.* Oh, it happens more than you'd think, actually. I've got a half-brother, and I think another half-sister somewhere, and a cousin or two floating around -

"It... what... HUH?" Meg is breaking Ace's brain. This isn't nice. She's trying to picture Dream with kiddies, and isn't succeeding too well.

*Meg gives her a rather worried look.* Are you all right?

I mean. It makes sense, if you think about it. Endless are all-powerful, so if they want kids, they ought to be able to have them -

Ace whimpers.
"Can we not talk about freaky all-powerful beings having kids? Ta." She breaks in, wincing. Next she's going to have to think about the Doctor having kids, and...

*Meg grins, and shrugs.* Well, if you want - it broke my head a bit, too, when I first found out who my father was. Never knew before, you see.

But it is a bit nice being legitimately able to blame all my problems on my father.

Ace is unfailingly, incurably curious. Curses.
"Errr... so... which one is it?"

*Meg grins.* Desire. The gender-ambiguous one - actually my half-brother, hesheit's his mother, not his father. It gets complicated.

"There's a gender-ambiguous one?" Now, Ace has heard it all. Though, of course, if she thinks about it, she'll wonder why the all aren't gender-ambiguous.

Well, what you see himherit as depends on what you desire, *Meg explains.* So, you know, girls tend to see himherit as a guy. Except when they don't. But you get the basic gist.

"I wonder if that works for other Endless. Like culture-wise. Do distant African tribes see Death as something other than we see her?"

I bet they do, *Meg says, with a grin.* 'cause, I mean, they're all about perception, aren't they?

"Huh." She muses about this. Then she eyes Meg.
"I don't suppose your mum ever told you..."

*Meg blinks at her.* My mother never even told me who my father was -

"Err... how he looked. To her. Guess not, huh?" Ace may be grinning a little.

. . . . . . . I'm not sure, *Meg says, carefully,* that I want to know.

In fact, I'm almost positive I don't.

"No, probably not." Pause. "But it might be interesting to find out, doncha think?"

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . how? *Meg asks, weakly.*

"By asking her, of course!" Ace replies, brightly.

*Meg eyes her.*

I have an idea. Why don't you ask her, while I hide?

"Because I have no idea what your mum looks like." Ace points out. She's so helpful.
