Ray makes his way down the stairs and out to lakeside, humming to himself. Egon's done some serious scanning work back in his world. There's an approximate location now. It's good.

He hasn't got his 'sabre just at the moment, but Bar was willing to give him a wooden practice sword, and he's perfectly capable of going through basic lightsabre drill techniques from memory. Which he might as well do while he works out how the heck everyone's going to get to the DC area.

And a Horta is headed his way with a small box. He waitsfor a pause in the workout before calling attention to himself.

"Good evening, hatchmate!" he calls.

Ray looks up from a move that's halfway between a lightsabre block and page seventy-eight of Advanced Chinese Broadsword Techniques, and smiles. "Hi, Iohor," he answers. "Good to see you again."

"And it's good to see you looking healthy," Naraht returns. He holds up the box. "I have those communicators you ordered. With the exception of mine, I went with the assumption that they would be fitting ears that were approximately humanoid given the roster you gave me. If there have been any late additions who need other pick-ups, I can modify them without much trouble."

"Good assumption," Ray says. "About the only other non-humanoid besides yourself that I know of who's going on this mission is Red. You've met her, right?"

"The Utahraptor?" he asks. "I've met her a couple of times. Will she even tolerate a communicator?"

"Well, she comprehends English reasonably well," Ray says. "I have a feeling I could probably explain it to her if I really tried. If she doesn't want one, then she doesn't want one, and that's all there is to it. I'm pretty sure everyone else is humaniform, though. You're set yourself, right?"

"Ready and rarein' to go!" he says, brightly. "I managed to reconstruct my stun phaser as well. When do we kick ass?"

"Just as soon as Egon and Johnny Destiny get their information cross-correlated," Ray says with a grin. "They've got it narrowed down to a particular spot within striking distance of the national capital- it wouldn't be a good idea to get this wrong."

"Mother bless! No, it wouldn't," he says. "If we're going for gratuitious violence and maximum property damange, we'd damn well make sure it goes to the deserving."

He falls silent for a moment.

"You say it's close to your nation's capital? Any possibility that we might get interferrence from other branches of your government's security force? Or is this operation so clandestine that they can't call for back-up without blowing things wide open?"

"Kind of the latter," Ray says. "There's this thing that most of the rest of the government has with not liking the idea of anybody at all having knowledge of the movement of every piece of technology. I mean, never mind the Fourth Amendment- that's just creepy beyond belief."

Naraht chuckles darkly, sending out a whiff of steam.

"Any possiblity that something could be leaked to the media just before we go in? I rather like the idea of those bastards being smoked out only to run into the open arms of the press...holos rolling and microphones picking up everything down to their intestines gurgling."

"You know," says Ray, "I bet Peter could pull off something to that effect..."

"You should ask him before Zero Hour," Naraht says. "It would be the alabaster icing on the marble-cake."

"Bashing Peck's skull with a club's a little old school for me, Chief, but I guess it fits 'Foliage Census' well enough."

"This is for when I get my lightsabre back," Ray says. "I don't want to get out of practice just because I spent the past couple of weeks recovering from my innards trying to dump core all hours of the day and night. Hi, K."

"How are the plans coming along? We about ready to make our move?"

K hasn't had a chance to humiliate any Federales in months. It's enough to make an MiB antsy.

Ray holds up his thumb and forefinger about a centimeter apart. "Egon's got Johnny's data almost completely nailed down," he says. "As soon as he has the exact coordinates we're gonna go for it. It's within spitting distance of DC itself- in Maryland- so we've got to be extra careful on this one."

"The neuralyzer will give us some room to maneuver if we need it."

"Been meaning to ask--do we have electronic surveillance covered? Whatever they have better be shut down before we move in, or we're going to end up setting off a whole new round of trouble."

"My Egon's got most of that nailed," Ray says. "Ecto's gonna be lending a hand too- she's been picking up a few lessons from the Knight boys, and since she can't really follow me all the way into the installation, she wants to help her daddy out somehow."

K nods, satisfied.

"Guess I better head back and double-check the power cells on the Series 4. Sounds like everything else is ready to go."

"Just about," Ray says. "Say, just in case- you any good with a first aid kit?"

K nods. "All the basics, and some field triage if it comes to that. It won't be pretty, but I can keep people in one piece 'til we get them back to the bar."

"I know they might be expecting us, Ray, but do you really expect that much of a fight from these guys?"

"Nah, not really," Ray says. "That's why I said first aid kit. I don't think we'll need more than basic OSHA compliance for a mid-sized office, tops. I mean, we're probably in more danger from our own enthusiasm than anything Peck could throw at us."

K laughs. "Got that right. I'm just sorry Peck doesn't have parts that grow back."

"'Course I could always test that assumption," he muses.
