He held up his fingers, a hairsbreadth apart.

"Not even a little...?"

"Do I get to?" She raised an eyebrow. "Look at all the pretty goth boys with their pretty tongue rings and pretty black sunglasses and pretty band t-shirts?"

"No. Because...uh, you go off into lala-land and that's no fun. So." A sigh. "I'll try not to do the same thing."

Yes, that was the reason.It was distracting.

"Whatever you say," Sam said, and gently touched her nose to his in a brief eskimo kiss before pulling back, very flushed, her hair falling down past her cheeks and just gently touching his.

Some things Danny could easily pave over and pass by, pretending that they weren't there.

It was just easier that way.

His life was complicated enough as it was.

However, some things...just couldn't be ignored.

Like that.

Whatever that was.

"Saaam..." Danny piped up quietly from where he lay, his cheeks now bright red. "What was thaat?"

Because that was just...weird. And it made him feel all...weird. And think about...stuff. That he was too scared to think about.

Oh, crap.

"Ummm." Vocals, work! Come on, vocal cords! "Uhm. An..." COME ON. "...Eskmio kiss?"

"...Whyyyyy?" His palms were sweating and all gross and clammy now, and he felt like his face was on fire.

Run instinct kicking in. Sam felt unbelieveably tense.

"...I don't know?" Her voice squeaked. Crap.

Danny was quiet for a few minutes, then he lifted his head up and looked at her.

"Uh..." he said slowly, then he looked away at the ground, extremely confused.

Sam would have gotten up and ran away -- she certainly felt like it -- but Danny was kind of, you know, on her.

If only she had ghost powers so she could intangibly hide.

"You face is all red," he said. Never mind that his face was all red, too.

How he was reacting was just further proof of his obliviousness.

"Yours is too," she pointed out, flushing hotter.

"Oh."

Talk about awwwwwkwwwwaaard.

Give him a ghost and he knew exactly what to do, but this? Quite frankly, he had no idea how to deal with this.

"Um," Sam said, and stared at the sky.

She willed her face to stop being red.

It wasn't working.

"Dude, you are so weird sometimes," Danny finally said with a snort.

"Am not," Sam said, looking at him from the corner of her eye.

"You are! I mean, what was that? You were rubbing my nose with your nose," he said, his voice juuuust a little shrill. "That's weird."

"For your information," Sam said, just as shrill, "that is eskimo kissing and it was named for its prevalence among the Inuit."

"I mean, why were you doing it to ME?" Danny asked, even more shrill now.

"I don't know," Sam wailed, still shriller.

Now he sat up and crossed his arms.

"You keep acting all...weird."

Especially when they were alone.

She couldn't run. He'd follow and drag information out. She couldn't tell him -- crap. No. That was out. No. She didn't have ghost powers. She couldn't sink into the ground.

He was... unbelievably frustrating. How could anyone be that blind? She was practically waving her arms around like a freaking bird!

So she hit him.

Not hard, persay. Just a smack to the head.

And then she realized what she'd done and blinked. That... had just blown all the non-violence rules to heck. Oops.

"Ow! What was that for?" he ground back at her angrily, rubbing his head.

"Why is it that half the time you make no sense at all? You drive me CRAZY!"

"You drive me crazier!" Sam stood up, glaring down at him, boots firmly planted in the ground. "You can't see what's right in front of you! You ignore things! You get upset over me looking at one guy while you stare at Paulina and Valerie all day long! You--I--feel--you! You... are... so... frustratingly clueless! GAH!"

She proceeded then to kick a clod of grass up from the ground.

And then she stomped off in the direction of the door.

"What the heck are you talking about?!" Danny shouted back, getting up and chasing after her. He grabbed onto her arm and whirled her around to face him him.

"What the heck is it that I'm supposedly so clueless about? Obviously, if you don't tell me, I won't know, will I?!"
