Happy Hour

Indy and Veronica did Happy Hour together last week. Indy's heard about it ever since, from a deeply (if perhaps a bit theatrically) wounded Lilly. His protest of "but Princess, I've been asking ya to do Happy Hour for ages and you've always said it sounded like too much work" fell on deaf ears, but eventually he figured out how to make it up to her.

Lilly's getting her own Happy Hour. She's behind the bar, chalking up the specials list with a serious look on her face. There's not much that Lilly takes seriously, but alcohol is on the list.

That's why the specials are mostly shots.

She smiles triumphantly up at the board celebrating a few of her favorite things. The liquor bottles are within easy reach. The shot glasses have been washed and lined up. Her skirt is shorter than her apron. This is as close to ready as it gets.

"What up, Milliways? Who wants a drink?"

"Actually, a plain one will be fine. I'm actually quite well, nowadays." He does not look. He firmly does not look. Well, maybe just a bit. Damn, damn Americans.

"It's a wonder what having one's future evil self destroyed will do for one's morale."

"I will have to take your word for it," Lilly says, pouring a liiittle bit of extra scotch over the ice.

"I only have an evil side, and I kinda like it, so."

She slides the drink over to him.

"Cheers to you, though!"

"It's nice to be the only me walking about, I have to say. I can handle any of the evil bits a greeat deal better now." He takes a grateful drink.

"You haven't an evil side," he scoffs goodnaturedly. "Yours is more of a... wicked side. Big difference."

"Yeah, I get to wear a flowing black cloak but I can't go around twirling a moustache."

Lilly sighs heavily.

"Life is so unfair."

[young_tmriddle]

He laughs. "Now, I must say in defense of evildoers, that I never had a mustache. Even when I was evil. It just wasn't done. Leastways, not by me."

Lilly scrutinizes his face.

"Probably just as well. You're not really a facial hair guy, I think. Working the whole clean-cut British guy is a much better choice."

[young_tmriddle]

He shudders. "I abhor whiskers. It's quite the thing for elderly wizards to have ridiculously long beards. Not me, thank you very much. Door's quite relieved, I think."

"Stubble burn can be rough," Lilly agrees.

"Just my luck that Indy has like, permanent five o'clock shadow. I've gotten some irritated skin in some interesting places thanks to that."

[young_tmriddle]

There is a raised eyebrow. "Indy, eh? I didn't realize you two were seeing each other."

He'd make a comment about the age difference, but seeing how Door is ten years younger than he is, that would be the pot calling the kettle black.

Ten years and twentysome years are not exactly the same, though. But either way it's not like the comment would phase Lilly any.

"Oh yeah. Well, I mean, we're having a lot of sex and we hang out even while dressed, but we're not exactly seeing each other."

She shrugs.

"Me and relationships are not all that good for each other."

Both eyebrows are raised at that.

"Ah, yes, well, you're wise to know what's best for you. As long as you're having a, er, good time."

You can take the man out of 1954, but you can only take so much of 1954 out of the man. He tries.

"Oh, I have a great time," Lilly replies smugly. "I usually get a couple great times, actually."

Lilly is not from 1954. Can you tell?

Tom grins slyly. He might be from 1954, and he might not ever speak of it in public, but he is a worldy man.

"I should hope so. It's not worth bothering if you're not man enough for that challenge."

Lilly's answering grin is a bit surprised, for a second, before turning as sly as his.

"Way to go, Tom. Door's a lucky woman."

[young_tmriddle]

"I like to think so," he preens.

Then he laughs, and his cheeks go slightly pink. "And on that note, I'd best be saying good evening before I say something that gets me in trouble with said lucky woman."

"No worries, I wouldn't want to cause trouble."

Such a lie. But actually, she wouldn't want to cause Tom any particular trouble. At the moment.
