Entrance Post

[Pre-Milliways and Pre-Torchwood: Her life is normal, and this is how it should always be.]

After her normal, normal day as a Police Constable for Cardiff, Gwen Cooper just wanted to go home. Maybe Rhys had some food done, if he was home yet (and if not, oh God, there was that delicious pie on the counter...and she could just have wee piece and he wouldn't notice, hopefully).

Of course, when one really wants to go home, that's when Bar pulls patrons in and makes them whirl about and lose all sense of...what the hell is going on.

The door opens and she walks through the door, with a look of "whut." on her face.

Huh. This...is not...her apartment.

[ooc: the mun may leave...but she'll let you know. s'just new years eve with the family, y'see.]

And lo, there was a short, blonde, bespectacled man in a suit before her--or, well, at a table close to her--who is now standing up and walking over to her.

"Lost?"

"Milliways Bar. At the end of the universe." She will notice the distinctly high-pitched...ed...ness of this man's voice. "By the looks of it you've just arrived. I think I looked the same way, first time I came here."

[identity profile] incoldwrit.livejournal.com 2006-12-31 05:00 pm (UTC)(link)
"It is, but..." He shrugs. "We're here."

[identity profile] incoldwrit.livejournal.com 2006-12-31 05:07 pm (UTC)(link)
"Because that's about the only explanation that make sense. That or this is all an elaborate dream of mine."

[identity profile] incoldwrit.livejournal.com 2006-12-31 05:11 pm (UTC)(link)
"Because I'm coming from my own perspective. If I were you I'd think this were your dream, you see?" Truman smirks right back.

How many times has Knox seen this? A new person walks and couldn't be more lost. It happens all the time. And the least he can do is be helpful. Heck, sometimes, it can even change your life.

"You look quite lost. New to the Bar?"

[identity profile] gotham-knocking.livejournal.com 2006-12-31 04:55 pm (UTC)(link)
"Then let me welcome oyu to the Milliways, the bar at the end of the universe. Really. It's a magic bar, the door there just borrowed you from ome, and wherever it is you're from, you aren't there anymore.

"Weird, huh?" He gives his best friendly smile. "I'm Alex Knox, Gotham City, 1990. Looks like I'm playing welcome wagon today."

[identity profile] gotham-knocking.livejournal.com 2006-12-31 05:01 pm (UTC)(link)
"Nice to meet you, Gwen. Don't think I ever met anyone from Wales. But yes, the end of the universe. Big bang time, I think. Take a look." He points at the conveniently located viewing window. "Wild out there. But safe in here. Magic." As if magic is perfectly normal.

Knox watches her stare. He just shrugged that view off back then, didn't he? "Yeah, it sounds...well, totally ridiculous. And it is. The whole place is like that. But if you're here long enough, it begins to seem...well, just as weird but a lot less hard to face. I've been coming here for months now, and I'd rather be here than my bar back home."

For an investigative journalist, Sarah isn't exactly paying the most attention to the happenings of such a strange place like Milliways.

Instead, she's enjoying a leisurely breakfast of toast and bannana at the bar, lamenting the lack of a morning run due to the cold and snow outside.

But for whatever reason, she does notice the door open, and a rather confused woman walk in. She hops off her barstool and walks over, slightly concerned.

"Is everything alright there?"

[identity profile] his-sarah-jane.livejournal.com 2006-12-31 05:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Of course it isn't. This is Milliways, and a place Sarah had grown accoustomed to quite quickly.

"Oh dear," she says softly, smiling gently at the woman. "Well, if you go out that door, you should wind up back at your apartment, you see. But, oh, welcome to Milliways. It is worth sitting down for a cup of tea or two before you leave."

Trust her. She's slowly becoming an expert on all these odd things.

[identity profile] his-sarah-jane.livejournal.com 2006-12-31 05:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Sarah Jane smiles, and places a hand on Gwen's elbow to lead her over to bar (where Sarah's own cup of tea, in the cup John had given her, sits cooling due to her neglect).

"Bar, a cup of tea for...oh, I'm afraid I didn't get your name. I'm Sarah Jane Smith," she says, holding out a hand in greeting.

The tea appears anyway, hot but not overly so. Just perfect for drinking.

"South Croydon to be exact," Sarah answers, sitting down on her barstool and picking up her own tea mug. "And I'm guessing you must be from somewhere in Wales. It's hard not to miss with an accent like that."

Although, really, you'd be surprised at just how many planets out there have natives with a British sounding accent. It's remarkable, really.
