Once Kara got out of the cells and only kind of bolted for the Door, she couldn't get back to the Bar for a few days. She was sort of surprised she missed it, but hey, here it is. Coolness.

First things first - she leaves a long overdue note with Bar.

I turned myself in and did cell time for the fight in the woods. You don't have to, because I worked that out with the girl who took me in, so I'm hoping that you're satisfied with that.

I know it probably won't matter to you, but I am sorry. I hope you're doing okay.

After that, Kara heads outside to study for Claire's math quiz. One small, blonde, cross-legged levitating girl in an entirely seasonable crop top and shorts is hanging out by the lake as she pours over her mostly borrowed notes.

This, she reflects, would probably be easier if she'd ever taken a test she could remember before that didn't involve hitting things with cars or identifying the silhouettes of weaponry.

Distractions will bring her grade down, but she'll be grateful anyway.

"You did! And there's a puppy on your head." Spoon points out, as Stepan peddles with the foot that is sliding off the head in question, "And another one on your arse." Stepan may be the favorite, but Rasia will be involved in all jump-on-Spoon games.

It's her favorite.

Kara reaches up to support her stylish new headgear and keeps right on grinning.

"I totally demand hypothetical tours of your goat farm on this hypothetical trip," she says, and these jumping on Spoon games are kind of fun.

Her headgear approves! "Absolutely. Can meet Piper. She's the only one with a name, the rest are to be eaten." That's a warning: only fall in love with Piper. (As she's the only one that doesn't run for the hills at the scent of predator, this won't be hard to do.) Spoon laughs even more as the puppies start bouncing around trying to get Kara to wrestle them.

Spoon will deny it, but he totally giggles.

That is perfectly fine! Kara won't bring up how he giggles, if he doesn't bring up her totally abandoning her dignity to wrestle with puppies.

Who...are kind of going to win for sure. There's two of them to the one of her, after all. ~~Plus, she lets them win because they're cute.~~

"I'll - " Kara says, heroically fending off puppies "- keep that in mind!"

They feel that default-for-cute is a perfectly acceptable way to win. "For the best. Piper's being trained to be a racing goat."

RASIA RASIA! Step on her HAIR! It works with Ace, sometimes. Occasionally, And I'll step on her MOUTH!

Mouth and hair stepping? NOOOOOO!

Kara laughs and covers her mouth before puppy paws can end up in it, tilting her head back to look at Rasia.

"Guys," she says reproachfully to the two of them, "Come on. That is so not fair!"

All is fair in love and wrestling! Rasia informs her with a content lick of Kara's forehead before she lays down on the hair. Totally pinned now, yup. Stepan performs a flop on her chest, puppy-grinning at her.

"Rasia says that all is fair in love and wrestling. She's probably right, you're about a zillion times their strength. Got to try to out-think you."

"...I'm at least twice as smart as they are," Kara says, pouting, "I could totally escape if I wanted to. I just don't feel like it." While this bout of mock-petulance is going on, Kara reaches up over her head to pet Rasia, even if the angle's a little awkward, and puts her other hand on Stepan's back.

Does she love these puppies? Yes, yes she does.

"I should totally learn to talk to them," she says, suddenly, "I mean, do you think I could?"

"We can try." Spoon says soberly, "Dunno if I can teach you, but we can try. I'm going to teach them Morse code...Nelly learned it just fine. Might be easier on you."

"I can sort of talk to dolphins," Kara says, turning to look at him as much as she can without disturbing Rasia, "I mean, not well, but...sort of. So, maybe? I think it'd be worth it."

"Worth it to try, at least." He agrees, "And they always like having more people to talk to. It's as much the body posture as the vocal parts, it is." Rasia gives a happy sigh and lets go of Kara's hair to curl up with Stepan.

They are still babies. They spend a lot of time sleeping, and they sleep as a single eight-legged blob of fluff.

"Hey, cross-species communication is something I have a knack for," she points out, "I learned human too, didn't I? And I don't want these guys to be saying stuff about me I don't understand. Doesn't seem fair, really."

And then she's going to enjoy this sleepy fluff ball experience, thank you.

Spoon laughs, rolling on the ground until his head is near Kara's. Pack animal, what can he say? If she were Ace, Wells, Annie, Nelly, or Cooper Spoon'd stick his head on her stomach too. "Fair enough. Mostly they just hope you'll drop biscuits for them. And they like the way you pet."

"...well, I like the way they are pettable," Kara says, looking down at them fondly, "And, um, will start carrying biscuits around. See? We need to be able to talk to each other or I can't totally make them fat, slow, and complacent with my city slicker ignorance of proper puppy care." Kara wouldn't mind the head on her stomach. It just wouldn't occur to her that could be weird.

Spoon will probably mention this to Ace. If Ace goes eh, whatever, puppy pile, it will happen next time. Spoon does not, ever, want Ace to worry. She does that over silly things. "They get half a biscuit each, unless they've done something very special that ties in to their training. For instance Rasia has problems knowing who to bark at. She gets a whole one if she stays quiet in the bar. Stepan has sitting problems, so he gets a whole one if he sits still when told to."

Ace is a girlfriend. Kara has gathered that girlfriends are kind of crazy. It may be hormonal. "Good to know," Kara says, lifting her head to push her hair down and out of the way - she has a lot of hair, which is now full of plant life and dirt. Whatever.

She plops her head back down and looks up at the sky for a while, quietly.

"You seriously kind of invited me to your house. That is so cool."

"Don't think mum will object. I think having werewolf stomachs to feed is one of the best things ever in her mind. We eat a lot. She loves to feed people." Spoon laughs, softly, "Might make you learn to cook, though. She keeps hoping...I chop vegetables. Ace sometimes starts the kettle."

"...I have burned ice," Kara warns, "Like, for serious. Can I not cook and say I did? I could...steal pies from people who know how to make them? Like, off of windowsills. But I'd leave money, so it'd be okay."

"Just don't tell her that. You'll never get free. She taught me to make fudge." Fudge and leftovers are about all Spoon can make.

And tea. Fudge, leftovers, and tea.

The basic components of any healthy diet.

"I have no doubt whatsoever that your mom has skills beyond my understanding," she says, lightly skating her fingertips over the puppies' backs, "You know, with...measuring cups and little...toothpick things. But I am like, superincapable in a kitchen. Boomer won't let me use his at his apartment anymore."

"Mum loves challenges." Spoon assures her, "If you see her, you should meet her. She's shorter than me, reddish hair, puppy fur all over her clothing, and a gold wedding ring."

"I...did run into her," Kara says, squirming a little, because...that didn't go so great, "I don't know that I made such a great impression, actually. I was all..." Kara's hands flutter in the air. "Sucky and weird."

"Kara?" Spoon eyes her, "Mum lives with me. If there's one thing she understands, its being confused and weird. First day she ever saw me I threw up by the side of the road and burst into tears. At least twice. Then started carrying a fuckin' blanket around. Did that for days."

"Mm," Kara says, and since they're so close it's not hard to end up with her head lightly touching his, "Yeah. And, I mean...yeah."

He's fine with that. He really is. "Yeah. Mum's seen weirder, I can promise. She's the fuckin' heart of a family full of nutcases, as long as you didn't try to hurt anyone around her she'll be alright with you."
