[OOM: Enzo's first Game as a Guardian is more than meets the eye. Rated N for Non-explicit Naughtiness in the prologue and R for ROBOTS!]

One thing no one likes about Games - even those who generally enjoy them, like Enzo - is when they come down in the middle of the night. It may not be bad at the time, but you always pay for it later. On the other hand, no one expects you to be fully functional the day after.

Enzo wants to be, though. He's his system's newest Guardian, for as long as he's still at home, and he owes it to the system to be fully alert and on the ball when he's on duty. And a Guardian is always on duty.

So he's cheating. Hooray for Milliways time-freeze!

In other words: green boy napping onna couch. With a teddy bear. Frisket's curled up on the couch, too, and kind of crowding Enzo's feet.

Definitely a nice view.

"Wow," Dani breathes.

Enzo nods. "Wow," he agrees.

Actually, they're high enough to see right over the top of the Bar. Enzo takes a look and... "Hey, that's weird!"

"What?" Dani peers over both edges of the baud curiously, trying to see what Enzo's seeing.

Enzo points. "Over there, in front of the bar! It looks like the same lake that's back here..."

Dani blinks, then looks at the front of the bar. Then she looks over her shoulder where the lake in back is in the distance. Then she looks to the front of the bar again.

"That is weird."

"And look! Those woods way off there... the edge is shaped just like the ones way back there, but from the other side!"

"Wait!" Thinking quickly Dani pulls out the camera, which she had never gotten rid of before heading out of the Bar. Carefully she stands up (hope you don't mind that she grabs your arm to steady herself, Enzo) and snaps a couple pictures.

"I wonder how many other people know about this, or if we're the first ones to find out?"

On the contrary, he takes hold of her shoulder to steady her further; fortunately, she grabbed the arm still holding the teddy bear (yes, he's still got that too, and Frisket's probably running around somewhere below them - see, we didn't forget anything, honest).

"I dunno. It seems kind of familiar, though... oh, of course! It's like a Game world map!"

Poor Frisket. He's probably having a conniption right about now.

"Really?" She smiles at Enzo as thanks for helping her keep her balance.

"Yeah, some of 'em wrap around. If you keep going in one direction, you come back in on the other side of the... map..."

He's supporting her from behind; since she's still holding his left arm, he's nearly pressed against her back. When she turns to smile at him, her face is very close to his.

He swallows hard and smiles back and blushes so hard his face may be glowing faintly from the energy concentration.

And that's when Dani realizes how close their faces are, and starts blushing as well.

She doesn't make any moves to get away, though.

"That's kinda cool," she remarks. "It kinda makes Milliways a little bit like your system."

It's not, really, not in that way; systems aren't shaped like Games. But all he says is "A little," and wonders if he ought to move, and in which direction.

Dani's wondering if she should move as well, and in what direction. She looks down at the baud, or the scenery below, then back up at Enzo shyly.

"Nice day for flying, isn't it."

How did he sneak up on them like that?

Oh wait, invisibility.

Still.

Danny was floating behind them, arms crossed, looking a little cross.

Enzo yelps and drops the teddy bear. Onto the boogie baud, fortunately, but still.

Dani also lets out a squeak of surprise. She considers herself lucky that she didn't fall off of the boggie baud.

"Danny!" she shouts, miffed.

Welcome to another aspect of having an older brother, Dani.

Something about Danny's expression tells Enzo's survival instincts that it might be a very good idea to release Dani's shoulder. He does so, and also gently disengages his arm on the pretext of retrieving the teddy bear. A distraction might also be in order.

Fortunately, they have a change of subject very conveniently to hand. "Are we glad to see you!" Enzo tells him. (It's true enough, even if right now wasn't the most convenient time.) "I had an idea and you both need to come to Mainframe, not for the wedding, I mean like right away!"

"How about you tell me about it on the ground?"

So they had no reason to be near each other anymore.

"Um? Okay..." If you say so, Danny. Of course, now that the baud is in motion, Enzo has to take hold of Dani's shoulder again, for safety's sake. Dowwwwn we go, easy glide.

Dani tries her darndest not to blush when Enzo put his hand back on her shoulder. Don't want to give Danny any more reason to kill Enzo, after all.

When they reach the ground Dani hops off of the baud. "Thanks for the ride." The comment is directed at Enzo, but the dirty look is for Danny.

"You're very welcome," Enzo answers graciously. The look he gives Danny isn't so much dirty as sulky.

Danny landed, and transformed back, still eying the too of them in his overprotective big brotherish fashion.

"So what's this idea of yours?"

"Well, when Dani gets digitized, her instability'll be in code instead of genes," he explains excitedly. "And Mouse fixed Bob's code, so she should be able to fix Dani's too!"

"We need you to come to Mainframe too, so Mouse knows what to fix!" adds Dani.

Isn't it a great plan?

"Code would be easier than DNA, wouldn't it..."
