It's been a while.

Okay, so it's been way more than a while, but the narration would go so far as to err on the side of diplomacy lest it be included in the general air of 'royal lazyasses' that seems to follow its charges around on a near-constant basis. It is not lazy - it is abused and mistreated.

"- should have seen your face when it started moving!"

"It was a tree. Trees don't move - there are roots involved - it's rather the point, Yvaine."

"So you talked to one, but they cannot move?"

"Yes, but that's an entirely -"

You see what it has to live with on a daily basis?

The couple that appears along with the bickering looks rather like they've been walking a great deal - vaguely dusty, slightly threadbare, and sun-darkened (well, one of them, at least) - but altogether rather pleased, if a little footsore.

"Oh," the star remarks, blinking once at the sudden change of scenery and grinning widely. "Civilization!"

Company would be welcomed. (As would dinner, more likely than not, but first thing's first.)

(OOC: Two for the price of one! It's sort of a discount ... only not at all. AND NOW - for bedtime!)

"Oh? What happened?" Tristran asks.

Kate, then?

Interesting.

She'll leave that bit for when his cheeks have returned to a normal color.

The star just tilts her head, waiting for his answer.

Will runs a hand through his hair,

"A fellow prayed on 'er doubts, tricked 'er an sent me to a battle to die, got shot but I'm still 'ealin'."

Time is strange but then Tristran and Yvaine did miss those rather fast few months when Kate and Will found each other after the tax.

"Oh - so she's your ... one true love, then?" he asks to clarify. He didn't mean to be so blunt, but he isn't sure how else to phrase it.

"And this battle ... how did he send you to it?"

He read one too many penny-dreadfuls as a child.

Yvaine shades a smile behind her hands - it's actually rather cute, all the poetics.

"Well, I am glad to hear that the battle didn't end in the planned death," she adds, eyebrows beetling together. "How did she meet someone like that?"

... not that those sort of things don't happen all the time. Because they do!

"Met 'im 'ere but we'll get it all sorted..some'ow. An aye, she's me Kate, surprised me, ne'er 'xpected to find anyone after Molly lost 'er door but now canna 'magine meself without 'er."

Much easier to speak of Kate than their troubles.

Indeed, Tristran was a fan of the penny-dreadfuls. They fueled his imagination greatly in matters of the heart.

He grins. "That's great, Will," he says sincerely. "Oh - and if you need our help for anything again, don't hesitate to ask."

He's a huge sap, that's what he is.

Yvaine grins as well though - so, really, she can't talk.

"Good. It is not a matter of expecting, really, it's more a finding sort of thing anyway."

And she has already more than secured her place in whatever trouble Tristran decided to get himself into.

"Oh aye, tis at that. Glad ye're both doin' well too. What 'ave ye seen on yer travels?"

He pours himself a drink of ale since its a good way to hide his worried thoughts about Kate.

He nods, smiling widely, taking one of Yvaine's hands in his for a moment.

"Oh - we've seen a lot. Loads of mountains and forests and things for sure."

Plus strange folk, depending on the village. "Faerie is a very ... colourful place."

"The trees decide to take walks," she adds, for further clarification of 'colorful.' "Upon occasion."

Makes navigational points interesting for those who don't have compasses in their brains.

"And the river sprites are terrible flirts."

[will_scarlett]

Will grins and drinks as he listens,

"Sounds like an interestin' time for ye."

He'd rather hear their stories than talk about his own troubles and adventures.

"It was - it is," he corrects himself with a rather good-natured laugh.

He pauses.

"Though it does get a little uncomfortable sleeping on the ground, and eating whatever we find lying around."

"It would be less uncomfortable with more towns."

They just happen to have way too much forest in the middle of them, is all.

"Though I do approve of the recent lack of things trying to eat us."

[will_scarlett]

"Towns are always useful aye, long as na one chasin' ye. Aye, need a break from bein' outside at times but that's what Milliways is for."

It has been very splendid not to be chased and hunted down for food. Tristran has been happy with that. Of course, now that they've started talking about it, they probably just doomed themselves.

"Yes," he agrees in regards to Will's last bit, "though it has been a good deal of time since we've been here." He briefly glances about the large space. "I suspect we might stay here for a little while, right Yvaine? I believe we still have our room."

Damn Murphy's Law and it's unerring attraction to their lives - or, yanno, the narration enjoying it's omnipotent power over all sorts of bloodthirsty creatures.

"Long enough to rest properly, at the very least."

A bright grin.

"With pillows. And blankets."

"Oh aye, they're marvelous things, but ye're na to get 'urt, Tristran. Else yer lady 'ere will yell an that's rather fearsome. Scared me an Atton a good bit."

There is a pause before Tristran laughs loudly.

"Really, now?" he questions, glancing in her direction with a grin. "You never told me about that."

Yvaine schools her face into a rather reasonable imitation of complete innocence.

"They were being ridiculous," she replies. "I can hardly be blamed."

[will_scarlett]

"We werena, were bein' quite logical an all. Was clearly my fault Tristran was 'urt was all."

Will hides slightly behind his drink.

[tristranthorn]

He looks from Yvaine to Will, then back again.

"If either you or Atton were blaming yourselves - or each other - for my being injured, then I'd say Yvaine was quite justified in her yelling," he says matter-of-factly.

Yvaine seems rather satisfied with this, all things considered.

"We are perfectly capable of getting ourselves into all sorts of trouble without it being anyone else's fault."

[will_scarlett]

"Well, aye, I guess but was still me world it 'appened in."

Will takes a drink and says quickly,

"An the fight was fun anyway."

[tristranthorn]

He laughs.

"Well, if you're into that sort of thing, I suppose ..."

He pauses. "Yvaine does like arguing for the sake of it sometimes."
