As usual, Ianto is sitting at the bar with a cup of coffee and his diary.

If one were to peek over his shoulder, one would see the words, "Today is my birthday" written at the top of today's page.

But one wouldn't do that, would one? It's terribly bad manners.

"I think you might be right," Lorne says, smiling.

"I've heard about your Jack, you see," Ianto says, going back to the original subject. "From a mutal friend, who couldn't quite comprehend how there could be two men of the same name and such different personalities. My Jack is something of a flirt."

To put it mildly.

Lorne laughs. "That's definitely not my Jack. Though he can be flirty when he wants to be."

"And that he was a pilot in World War II," Ianto says. "While my Jack just likes to dress the part. Though if he's actually flown a plane is anybody's guess."

"Your Jack likes to dress like a World War II pilot?" He's heard stranger things, he supposes.

"Not in a uniform," Ianto says. "Just in a uniform-like . . . style.

"Mostly it's the coat."

"Ah," Lorne says, much less confused now. "Well, that makes sense, I guess. Like people who still wear old-style bomber jackets."

"No, it's a big grey greatcoat. It's a really great coat."

"Right," Lorne says. "Like the bomber jackets but not."

His face scrunches up a little in confusion. "He wears a World War II greatcoat around twenty-first century Cardiff?"

"Like an overcoat. It is an overcoat."

He sighs. "Yes. It's cold in Wales."

"Well, sure, but...doesn't he stick out a little dressed like that?"

Ianto has to laugh at that. "I suspect that's the point."

Lorne nods. "Got it. I just...that's really different from my Jack. It's a little hard to comprehend, I guess."

"I think it's quite safe to say they're not the same person, despite the name. 'Jack' is a terribly common name, even if Harkness is not." He shrugs. "It probably is just a strange coincidence."

"True. They might not even be from the same reality," Lorne says. "Weird they'd both end up here though."

"Milliways," Ianto says with a shrug. "One of her many mysteries."

"I'll add it to the list," Lorne says.

"Like where the food comes from. Or how we can hang here on the end of time and never be in danger."

"Or how you can stay here for days and get back home exactly when you left and how the back door leads to Scotland or something like it," Lorne adds.

"Well, I know for certain that time is a lot more fluid than you'd expect," Ianto says. "I'm sure it has something to do with that."

"I'm beginning to think time is just a big joke the universe is playing on us," Lorne says. "It doesn't seem to mean a whole lot here."

"Or that the only calendar that really matters is the changing of the seasons."

Beat.

"I'm not giving back my birthday presents, though."

Lorne gives Ianto a Look. "I...wouldn't want your cupcake back at this point anyway."

Ianto grins and licks a little frosting from his fingertip.

"Though I am glad you seem to be enjoying it so thoroughly," he adds.
