Coyote leans up against the bar. It's quite warm in Sedona, even on a clear night like tonight. She's wearing a skirt that comes inches within violating a bar rule and high-heeled sandals.

She's smoking, and smiling.

That draws a deeply amused snort from Max, "I appreciate that." Especially considering his... intentions.

"Can I buy you a drink?"

Cause that's where you start...

"That depends," Coyote says, slowly, "on whether or not you have any money."

"It turns out," Max responds with a chuckle, "That I've got better than that."

"I've got a whole lot of money." He doesn't look it, truth to tell.

"Really!" She is impressed. Most people who have a lot of money in the bar look at least a little like it. Unless they are crazy hobos with mattresses stuffed with money.

"Then you may buy me several drinks."

"I thank the lady for her generosity," he grins.

He chooses his words carefully, "What's your pleasure?"

Hah! He's funny.

"Something cold. You can choose." It's a test, Max! Choose wisely.

Or if 'wise' is not in your vocabulary list, at least make it tasty and expensive.

Max considers his many, many recent samplings from the bar.

He'll see your tasty and expensive, and he'll raise you highly alcoholic.

He orders one for himself as well. No point in letting the lady drink alone, after all.

Coyote surveys the drink. It certainly looks impressive. She picks up her tall glass (decorated with fruit on the rim) and takes a sip of the (very pink) drink. She licks her lips afterwards, and adopts a considering face.

It's certainly very full of alcohol.

"Good choice," she allows.

"I am glad you agree," he grins cheekily. "Your rejection at this stage would be absolutely devastating."

"Especially considering that we have not been introduced. We would forever be two ships, passing in the night. And all over a poor drink choice." She nods sagely.

"Who are you, then?"

"Due to the unfortunate circumstances of my birth, I am Antillar Maximus," Max heaves a mock sigh. "However, I much, much prefer Max."

"And what of yourself? Or should I simply call you 'beautiful'?"

"Max is better," she agrees. "You can call me Elizabeth. If 'Liz' passes your lips, I will empty this delightful drink over your head." Coyote grins at him.

"As the lady says," Max agrees with an amused laugh. "Though I do have to say that 'Elizabeth' suits you quite well. Better than the name which will result in wasted alcohol."

"Why thank you Max, you are most gallant. Is this the point when I should ask if you come here often?" She has some more of the drink.

Yep. Still chock full of booze.

"You may if you must," Max laughs. "The answer is 'as often as I can'. It's far more interesting here than back home, after all."

He shoots her a leer which very clearly signifies that she's one of the interesting things.

Coyote doesn't play oblivious very well, especially when it comes to compliments. So, she doesn't at all!

"Is this so? Where do you come from?" They do seem to grow them big, there.

"Place called Alera. Not too bad a place, really. At least when there's not a war going on."

He cocks his head, "How about yourself?" After all, she's far more interesting than he is.

War might explain his physique. If he is a soldier, anyway.

Alera must be an interesting place if all their soldiers wave around enough magic for her to smell.

"Arizona, in the United States. Earth," she adds, since Alera doesn't sound familiar to her at all.

"Oh, Earth," Max nods. "I keep hearing about the place. Is it as interesting as people say?"

He shifts slightly as he takes another drink, then pauses to reach behind himself and adjust his belt. The movement is enough to reveal the knife hanging there. It's nothing particularly interesting, but it's clearly a weapon more than it is a tool.

"I could not compare it to other worlds in my experience. I am widely traveled on Earth, and no where else." At least, not for a very long time.

"It interests me greatly, of course, being home. Beautiful always, but cruel, too." Not that she'd self-identify or anything.

"I'm a big fan of beautiful." He's not quite blatant enough to add "like you" to that, but he does let his eyes say it.

And... in the right circumstances, Max can be a fan of cruel too. In moderation.

"I never would have guessed!" she exclaims. "Except for the fact that you are not so bad yourself. You keep yourself well for a...soldier?" She's pretty sure, but she doesn't want to tip her hand just yet.

"Yeah," he shrugs his massive shoulders. "Lucky for me I'm good enough at it to still be alive. And it pays the bills, and keeps me away from my step-mother, so I try not to complain."

He grins, "It also means a lot of traveling." By which he means 'a lot of women', of course.

She never would have guessed.

"A wicked step-mother?" Coyote hazards. It is traditional, but Max doesn't exactly come across as a damsel in distress.

"Well, ambitious. And paranoid." Max grimaces, "It's a nasty combination."

He leans in conspiratorially, "She keeps trying to kill me."

He doesn't lean back out.
