It's late, Beckett's tired, but she's been bogged down with paperwork ever since this new case decided to go ahead and run its course.

There's no telling when she'll be finished, which is why she gets up from her desk and heads into the break room for a refill on her coffee -

- only to walk right into Milliways itself.

Sighing, she rests a hand against her head and finds a spot at the bar. At least she can get a strong cup of coffee while she's here.

Nathaniel has not been sleeping well.

He's been restless and irritated, which his pard-and-packmates have noted, even if Anita turned a blind eye.

His fingers keep rubbing at the inside of one thigh, through his jeans, a new, absentminded gesture he's taken up doing since Anita's arrival. The wound had healed the other day, and Nathaniel had almost cried.

Almost.

He's been good. He has spent most of his time with Anita or Jason or Liz. There have been quiet moments with Damian when he was allowed his silence and stillness. It was unusual for Nathaniel to feel as if he's mourning, but it's what it felt like. Like something died.

Nathaniel would agree with just about anyone that he's young and melodramatic and that the world is not ending, but sometimes, it just felt like it was.

He's just staring at a spot on the floor, lost in his thoughts, oblivious to the world around him. The silver of the leopard clasp Asher had given continues to irritate the skin at the base of his neck, a quiet reminder that all wasn't lost and his vampire was his, as he was the vampire's leopard, and they'd somehow work it all out.

[OOC: Plot-locked to Asher-mun, say sorry! I just don't have the brainspace for actual threading today. ^_^]

What do you do when you want to do something but can't really decide what that something should be?
Well, if you're Mike what you do is drag the Lost and Found box out from behind Bar, plunk it down on an empty table top, and go rummaging.

This evening Milliways seems to have caught Usagi while he was attending something fancy, at least if the formal silk kimono is any indication. Usagi looks relived and happy to have been "invited" back and strides up to the bar to order a pot of tea.

The requested pot with two cups appear, as do an elegant fan and a paper lantern resting in a small boat. Confused, Usagi asks, "What is this Bar-san?"

A napkin appears* which reads, "I believe it is the time of the Bon festival here. I thought you may wish to honor your ancestors."

"But it is winter," Usagi replies confused.

"The seasons are different here. Here it is mid-summer," says another napkin.

Usagi ponders this and then nods his head. "You honor me lady. My thanks."

After his tea, Usagi collects Bar's gifts and retreats outside to the lakeside. He builds a fire and then picks up the fan and begins to dance some of the traditional dances.

Once done, he lights the candle within the lantern and sets the boat adrift onto the lake. It's glow is lonely and Usagi hopes his ancestors feel properly honored. His celebration is a humble one but, unlike many of his class, humble does not bother Usagi.

Feel free to join him, whether in the bar or outside by the lake.

*Written in kanji of course.

"What is it?"

Ms. Bar has leant something to Gilbert, today, and he's busy staring down at it without even the slightest hint of recognition.

The object in question is smallish, both a little bit larger and longer than the boy's hand, and a vivid, somewhat gaudy green. It's also shaped like a toy pistol and filled with clear, cool liquid. Yep, Gilbert Cocteau has a water gun. Not that he quite understands it, yet.

"So, it looks like you push this part..." He murmurs, turning it in his hands and pressing down the bright orange trigger near the handle - promptly getting a stream of cold fluid between the eyes.

"Ech! ...hmmph."

Having figured it out, though, he can't help but smile a little - and point it out towards the Bar with one hand, firing a few times. (He hasn't exactly checked to make sure that he's not pointing it at anyone. After all, it's just water.)

Walking in then walking over to the bar to order a drink Ginny is given a napkin with a note on it. Thinking it over she nods then walks behind the bar grabbing the book behind it flipping though looking for things. A few things catch her eye and make her smile so with a tap of the wand to the board she sets the specials.
Tying on an apron leaning against the bar drawing sparkling smiley faces with her wand as she waits.

Kate settles herself at the Bar, looking to be in good spirits.

"All right now, Miss, I think it's about time you an' I discussed my roomin' situation. How much would it cost t'git me one'a these 'ste-re-o' contraptions?" she asks, pointing to a picture in one of the brochures she's been perusing.

Bar answers by napkin with an appropriate figure. "S'doable..."

'You want a TV?'

"...A what now?"

The volume on the TV above the bar seems to spike all of a sudden, and Kate raises her eyes just in time to see a commercial for something called Oxi Clean.

"...Ooh."

Damian is in the bar this evening, sitting forward in his seat on the sofa. He has pulled the coffee table close so he can be comfortable as he makes a rough draft of an idea. It still isn't a concept fully formed in his own mind, and he isn't certain he'll even follow it through to fruition, but if he is writing and sketching, chances are something intriguing has caught his attention.

Beside a couple crumpled papers is a cup of blood from Bar. He drinks from it occasionally, but each time he does so, his frown deepens and he returns to his brainstorming with renewed vigour.

The current piece of paper almost looks like a personal ad, but he's clearly unhappy with it. Curious to see what has him so preoccupied?

Left with the bar, to be given to Dorian Gray the next time he comes in, a leather pouch, containing:
  • a platinum collar, with a clear, dark ruby, a D-ring, and a safety lock, made to measure and specification; it can be pulled or twisted open to put on and take off, thanks to an under-construction of titanium, but is otherwise very solid and will stay in shape
  • exactly the same thing again, proportionally, as a miniature to be worn as an anklet

Someone has finally gotten around to checking out the library.

This same someone has found the selection of books more than satisfactory.

Someone is now stretched out on a couch with a rather dusty looking book, flipping gleefully through the pages.

She's got a cup of coffee, the latest issue of the Canadian Medical Association Journal, and a seat in a booth at the end of the universe.

All things considered, Kim Ford looks pretty content with her lot in life this evening.

At the one booth, Aleph has set up a laptop and is in the process of linking them up in an (futile, she knows) attempt to get ahold of the Global Frequency. Despite its inability to hook her up, it does provide her with a computer on which to begin a database of Milliways information to add to the Frequency's database when her Door opens.

On the other side of the room, Chuck Bartowski is busy attempting to convince a Buy More client's laptop to boot up. It isn't going well.

The strains of "I'm Just A Gigolo" follow Charlie Crews in the bar. Charlie has a beer in one hand and a fruit kebab in the other. He is nibbling from the one, and drinking from the other.

He is in swim trunks -- black ones -- and is also tracking water all over the floor. Somebody is not going to be the Loompas' favorite. Somebody is also not your favorite, if you are not partial to chlorine.

The door of Milliways opens and a dark hallway can be seen through it. Two women are standing in the hallway arguing. Loudly.

"No!" The dark haired woman exclaimed in distress. "Rachel, I-"

"You lied to me!" The redhead shouted. "He bespelled me. You said a living vampire couldn't do that unless I wanted him to. And I sure as hell didn't."

The dark haired woman fell silent. Rachel listened to Ivy breath, inhaling the sweet-sour tang of wet ash and redwood: their scents mingling dangerously. Mouth dry, Rachel backed up a couple steps (almost into Milliways) as she realized she was screaming at a vampire. Her adrenaline spent, it left her feeling nauseous and cold.

"You lied to me." Rachel whispered, backing through the threshold and into Milliways. 'Dad was right. Don't trust anyone.' Rachel turned took a couple steps into the bar before stopping when it registered that she wasn't in the church's kitchen.

Ivy's steps were overly loud behind her, making an obvious effort to hit the floor hard enough to make a sound. They pause just behind Rachel, just enough for the door to swing shut behind them and vanish.

Carlotta got off pretty lightly after falling twenty five feet off a drainpipe the other night; she has however been told to keep the weight off her foot for the week until it's had a good rest.

She was equipped with a pair of crutches, but isn't enjoying them very much. So much so that after a frustrating few moments of trying to manouvre between two waitrats and a table, she puts them down and flips over onto her hands. She walks on her hands over to the bar, rights herself, gets a packet of Skittles between her teeth, then walks back on her hands over to her table.

Then, she sits down and starts eating the Skittles.

Because multipup posts are the new black...

Mary Anne is at a table with a notepad, multiple wadded up sheets of paper, and a glass of tequila. Packing for a trip didn't used to be this hard.

Meanwhile, Artemis has a million dollar credit on her bar tab, which can only mean one thing: frito pie.

The door opens, and the kid doesn't walk in so much as stagger in. He's got a ratty grey T-shirt with the sleeves ripped off hanging from strong shoulders, and his jeans are undone by the button.

It's been a long night, and someone's been drinking. Looks like the morning isn't treating him so well, either.

It's the reason why it takes him a good two minutes to discover that this place isn't his bathroom. He fumbles for the sink that doesn't exist, looks up through hair hanging in his face, and his brow furrows in confusion as he tries to remember how much he drank last night.

"...the hell?"

Tim Riggins, meet Milliways.

Guppy has a teensy bit of a hangover. His wife was very cross because he came home tipsy and fell asleep at the dining table.

He meant to run clinic today, but is currently drinking coffee, eating toast, and thinking with a serious expression on his place.

Cavilo's perched on a barstool, eating red grapes (just a few shades lighter than the burgundy jumpsuit she's wearing -- positively subdued, for her) and peoplewatching.

There seems to be some extra tension about the place since she was last in the main bar. She wonders idly what that's about.

Someone might be in the middle of a private dance party.

That same someone might be in the middle of dancing to this song, the sounds of which filter through her slightly open door as she shimmies into what she thinks is her own closet.

That certain someone might also be in a specific state of undress throughout this spectacle, which is why she whirls to a stop in the middle of the room and lets out something sounding remarkably like a squeak.

And then runs into a corner to attempt to cover herself.
