Ianto was on his way home when the door opened to Milliways.

(It was meant to be an Indian place. He wanted a kebab.)

He sighs, not really in the mood for socializing, but he has never refused an entry to Milliways when it's come and isn't going to start now.

He gets supper from the bar and sits in a booth near the back of the enormous room where he can eat and spread out his work.

He is not hiding. Perish the thought. He'd just rather not be noticed.

"Food and music and anything else we'd need." And if that far-off look in his eyes indicates he may be thinking of Jack in swim trunks and sunglasses...well...yeah.

"It sounds like so much fun."

He sighs, wishing he could bring his Jack.

"We should do it," Lorne says. "I mean, it couldn't be that hard, right?"

And it might cheer Ianto up a bit to have something to plan. Maybe.

"Can we even do that? Just throw a party?"

"Why not?" Lorne says, shrugging. "It's not against the rules. It's not like we're...changing anything. Just hanging out and having food."

"Yeah, true. Just never thought about throwing a party here. I mean, it's a bar."

"Yeah, but I mean, people live here. It's not just a bar. And bars have parties too sometimes."

"Generally on match nights," Ianto says with a little smile.

"Or Halloween or New Year's..." Lorne smiles as well, happy to see Ianto smiling a bit.

"Well, New Year's. Halloween isn't much of a party in Cardiff."

"No? That's too bad," Lorne says. "Either way, I don't see why we shouldn't have a party here. A big ol' beach party."

"Evan Lorne and Ianto Jones cordially invite you for a day of sunburn and sand," Ianto speculates. "With burgers."

"Exactly!" Lorne says, grinning. "At the Caribbean inlet. Or whatever it's called."

"I think if we say 'Caribbean inlet' everybody who wants to know will know."

"True. And if we put our names on it, they can ask us if they don't."

[ooc: Gotta run to work.]

"Co-hosting a party," Ianto says with a chuckle. "What a way to get over a breakup."

[ooc: Byyyye.]

Lorne shrugs, smiling. "Better than drinking yourself into a stupor and going home with the first available warm body," he says, with the air of someone who's done just that. Possibly more than once.

"I don't know about better," Ianto says mildly.

"Depends on the warm body," Lorne says, equally mildly.

"And throwing a party doesn't preclude that option. It might even help with that."

"I want to bring Jack," Ianto says plaintively. "I want him on the beach. I want to drink fruity drinks with him and count the stars after the sun goes down."

He sighs and eyes his now-cold supper.

"Is there some reason you can't?" Lorne asks. He's never tried to bring someone with him, so he's not sure exactly how the door works in those cases.

"Well." He frowns. "I have a theory. Jack used to come here, but the door doesn't open for him anymore. I think--you know how people can be bound in the bar? I think people can be bound out, too. And I think Jack has been bound out."

"Have you ever asked him about it?"

Ianto shakes his head. "I didn't know until he used to come here until I'd been coming here a while myself and now I don't know how to tell him."

"How about, 'So there's this bar I like to go to, and I just found out that you used to go there too. Why don't you anymore?'"

Ask Lorne why he's never talked to Sheppard about it, even though his name's on the tab board too. Go on, ask him.
