"I don't think that's really comparable," says Buffy, but she very noticeably fails to stab Seras through the heart with a piece of wood, which is like being friendly. She also shakes her head. "Not...really, no. -- I know this might sound weird, but there's no Weetabix in that stuff, is there?" She nods toward the blood.

"What is that?" asked Seras, "Oh the kid is half human, if you wanted to know."

Seras is happy, I mean at the moment it's not like the small conciseness in side of her has done anything wrong, yet.

"I'm not really sure," she admits. And blinks. "I...it didn't occur to me to ask."

She's not sure what to ask next. Possibilities that come to mind: HOW?

Sex.

"Oh that, I was never much for breakfast cerial," she said.

What else is there to talk about? The kitten that was following her and had been in her lap tried to play with her hands. Tiny paws appeared at the edge of the table.

Buffy looks confused. "I mean --" What does she mean? "Wait, is it cereal? That would make sense. Really gross sense, but sense."

Then she notices the paws.

"...Um."

Seras picked Bean up. He's a small 3 month old kitten with black fur and greenish blue eyes. He pawed and kicked at her hand.

"Bean, he's my kitten," she said, "Wanna meet Buffy? On of my friends Angel and him play all the time. "

Her ears don't prick up, but only because they're lacking the necessary muscles. (Unlike Bean's!)

"Angel? You have a friend named Angel?"

"He's bloody awsome! We spar and stuff, it's hard to find people that I won't kill while fighting them," she said, "he's like a big brother!"

She's talking fast now. Bean meowed as Seras tickled his belly.

"One time I fell into a deep pool of water, he had to get me out, I was not very happy," she said, "Do you know him?"

"...I...don't know." Buffy is speaking slowly. She looks like somebody just told in the same breath that Santa isn't real and that he is real, and a zombie, and her next door neighbor. It's a complex facial expression. "What...what is he like?"

"He's a vampire, he can't fly, or do some of the things like the ones in my world can," she said, "Um... are you okay?"

Seras reached out a hand to put on Buffy's shoulder... there just happened to be a kitten attached to it.

"-- Yes." She moves backward automatically; friendly and kitten-petting though Seras might be, she's still a vampire. Also...kittens have claws. "Is he -- um. Tall? Broad-shouldered? Handsome, in an annoying kind of way?"

"Yeah, dark hair, looks like that human guy," she said.

Bean fell off the hand and landed on Buffy. It's time for him to play the kitty version of peekaboo from under the table on her lap.

...He's so little. And fuzzy. Buffy pets him very quickly and then pretends she didn't.

"How often is he here?" she says.

"Time here is funny, you know," she said, "I see him often enough."

"I do," she says, a little distantly. She's not paying attention to whether her finger is being gnawed on by kitten teeth. "Know him."

"What's wrong?" asked Seras.

(OOC feel free to god the kitten)

Buffy blinks. "Well, besides the fact that I'm talking to a pregnant vampire who's drinking vitamin-enriched mineral blood, not all that much, but I'm thrown for at least a little bit of loop by the fact that you're apparently friends with --" She closes her mouth around the words my ex and reopens it to say, "somebody I know."

She looks down. There are tiny kitten teeth fastened around her index finger. She shakes the finger, gently.

"I think he likes you," she said, "What's so strange about me knowing Angel? I mean it is Milliways?"

"He has a funny way of showing it," Buffy says, but without rancor. And: "Well...nothing, I guess. It just took me by surprise. I guess it makes sense, though. I mean, you're both...do you have a soul?"

"I don't know," said Seras, "Why do you ask?"

Because, Migionette, it's a good question

"You don't know?" It hadn't really occurred to her that that was a possible answer. "Doesn't it...I don't know...shouldn't there be some kind of..."

It should sting! Or something!

Souls a differant where she is from.

"The soul is carried by the blood," explained Seras, "It is that essence that of a person. I have the soul of Pip in my conscious nearly all the time because he gave me his blood. I don't know if that means that I have a soul, or if Alucard has my soul."

This also hasn't occurred to her.

"...Your world," says Buffy, "is very different from mine." Your obvious, let me state it to you. "I guess...well, in my world, vampires without souls eat people. Unless they have chips."

The kitten stops gnawing on her, and licks her finger; she blinks, startled, and looks down at him again. His head is fuzzy and pettable.

"Chips?" she asked, "Vampires in my world range from those who are not bastards to those who are."

That's a pretty universal range, she reflects. It applies to humans, too.

"Um, chips -- like, a thing in your brain that zaps you when you try to bite somebody? The military invented them." Also, a giant Frankendemon. "I guess I was just wondering...what made you decide not to...be the bastard kind?"
