Gert and Old Lace are eating dinner at a table - well, Gert is at the table, OL is eating raw liver from a bucket on the floor. Gert herself is eating miso ramen  and sipping green tea.

They are not adverse to company.

(OOC: Even creepy company?)

(Well, then. This will be . . . interesting, won't it.)

"Is that a Deinonychus, my dear girl? How fascinating." A short, fox-faced man grins at her.

"Real neat," agrees his companion, a tall, wolfish fellow.

"They're a bit before our time, I'm afraid. But yes, they're an interest of ours."

"He reads too much."

"There is no such thing as reading too much." The 'fox' holds out a hand. "My name is Mr. Croup, and this is Mr. Vandemar. It's a pleasure."

"Ah, delightful! Someone knows their movie classics." Croup grins a truly awful grin and pats Old Lace cheerily.

"Oh, it'll be alright. We're fast, and we heal fast as well."

"The dear girl is worried about us, Mr. Vandemar. How delightful."

"How foolish."

"Now now, she doesn't know what we are."

"She'll learn."

"Oh, don't worry. We're not going to start anything."

"Not with you."

"Although your pet does seem to be getting a tad anxious."

"Smart girl."

Vandemar snarls back, sounding more like a wolf than a human.

Croup just laughs. "See you around."

Then there is a shiver in the world, and they're gone.

(Thanks for the mini-thread.)

"Hey babe." OL gets a friendly scritch behind the ears as Chase deposits himself next to Gert.

[identity profile] talkback.livejournal.com 2009-03-04 10:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Chase reckons the signs are good that she isn't going to question him on his secret source of beer. He's has been keeping his eye out for suspicious inquiries ever since his encounters.

"That looks almost as good as OL's meal looks gross." he says, putting his feet on the table.

"Your tea was totally safe." Chase says, putting his feet on Old Lace instead.

[identity profile] talkback.livejournal.com 2009-03-04 10:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Chase removes his feet from the vicinity.

"Okay, okay, I'm sorry, I was just kidding." He gives Old Lace another scritch and leaves her alone.

"Yeah, might eat my stinky foot." Chase says, looking as though he's about to take his shoes off but thinking better of it.

[identity profile] talkback.livejournal.com 2009-03-04 11:18 pm (UTC)(link)
"Heh, don't blame her." Chase says. "They kind of itch at the moment, are they meant to do that?"

[identity profile] talkback.livejournal.com 2009-03-04 11:23 pm (UTC)(link)
"True."

Beat.

"But doesn't washing wear them out faster?"

[identity profile] talkback.livejournal.com 2009-03-04 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)
"Faster than wearing them twice."

Beat. Little self conscious pang.

"Um, does it bother you?"

[identity profile] talkback.livejournal.com 2009-03-04 11:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Chase goes a bit quiet and mumbles, "Sorry".

[identity profile] talkback.livejournal.com 2009-03-05 12:00 am (UTC)(link)
"Well, er, I'll try not to, okay?"
