When the door shows up for Beckett for the second day in a row, it comes as a bit of a surprise to her, but she heads toward the bar without hesitation, hoping to at least get a cup of decaf out of the deal.
Instead of a cup, a napkin appears in front of her. She reads it with a frown.
"Really?"
Another napkin appears. Beckett reads that one, too.
"Alright," she finally agrees, shoulders sagging in surrender, and slides under the bar to set everything up.
"Just so you know, I'm not very good at--" A third napkin appears and interrupts her. "Fine. But you're going to have to help me."
The specials board immediately changes to a list with Bar's handwriting:
HAPPY HOUR
Cop Car
E Pluribus Unum
Holly Golightly
Beer, wine and other mixed drinks available upon request.
Beckett's eyes read over the list and she makes a face.
"Funny."
A fourth napkin appears: this one with just a smiling face drawn on.

"Which of those do you think would be the strongest?" he asks.
no subject
"Probably the E Pluribus," she decides out loud, hands hovering over the tumbler. "You want one?"

There are strong drinks, and then there are stupidly strong drinks.
"I think a person could have a different drink every day and never try everything there is to try."

The rest gets served to him in a nicer glass, with the chocolate shavings sprinkled on top.
"There you go."

Mal moves smoothly to the bar, towards the woman behind the bar.
"Let me get a Ng Ka Pe, miss," he offers with a polite smile and shifting his holster so he can sit down more comfortably.
no subject
"What's in that, exactly?" she asks, narrowing her eyes slightly.
no subject
The apology does actually sound nearly sincere. Mal is used to confusing people.
"Bar should be able to scrounge you up a glass."

Behind Beckett, a bottle starts to shift and move on one of the shelves, nudging others out of the way and pushing itself to the front. She looks over her shoulder to pluck it up with a thank you mentally tossed up to Bar.
Pouring him a glass, she gently slides it over to him.
"Most people don't like it?"
no subject
"You want to try it? I'll give you a chit if you like it."
He's betting coin, lady.
no subject
Though he does know how to issue a challenge the same way, which pleases her.
"I could try it," Beckett decides, reaching for a smaller glass and pouring enough for a sufficient mouthful before tipping the contents back between her lips.
It's strong, but she does her best not to flinch too much.

He smiled again. Is this Daniel trying to be nice to a girl? OMG the world may explode!
"I haven't seen you around the bar before," said Daniel, "Are you new?"
no subject
If there is a risk of the world exploding, Beckett's blissfully unaware as she moves over to a still-steaming pot and pours some coffee into a ceramic mug.
"Sure you don't want anything a little stronger?"
no subject
It all depends on what universe she's from, and if she's seen Stargate.... He's already had his canon punctured so whatever she blurts out is fine, or not.
no subject
"So you're a doctor? What's your specialty?" She doesn't know a thing about Stargate.

"Something strong, please. Anything," the Goddess spoke lightly as she tried her best to slide onto a stool. Of course this didn't work quite so well until she somehow managed to shift the hoop enough it was wedged in a way that kept the skirt from doing very odd, very embarassing things.

Her personal answer to the solution of strong drinks is vodka. Lots and lots of vodka. So she starts mixing one of her personal favorites and hands it over when she's done.
"Hard day?"
no subject
Leaning against the bartop slightly Inari grumped as she had to sit up straight again. "How in the heavens did you women wear these things? I'd have revolted or something. Really. Corsets? I'd almost think a man invented them."
no subject
"You'd never catch me in one of those, alive or dead," she promises, leaning forward to let her elbows prop her up on top of the bar. "Thank God I wasn't born in the seventeenth century."
no subject
"Give me a good kimono or.. something not so.. restraining and I'm fine. But, goodness!" The drink is much welcomed and enjoyed as she takes a sip. Vodka is a drink she has surprisingly not had before and, in a way, it has a kick sort of like saki.
Carefully the Goddess sat the glass down offering Kate a warm smile. "I don't think I have seen you here before- of course, I do manage to stay away for periods of time due to work. I'm Inari."
