Sam is feeling... worse. So much for flushing whatever this is out of his system.
He's currently in a chair by the fire, alternating between filming things with a camera the Bar gave him this morning and... wondering what in the Abyss the thing is supposed to be; it's safe to say there's nothing like it in Bistort.
Watch out for the occasional sneeze.

(OOC: Subject to random bouts of slowtime throughout the day, but open until his next EP, which will likely be Thursday sometime.)

"Very weird."

"Fuckin' weird." He doesn't know why he's saying it. Or what the first word even means, beyond it having the universal cadence of swearing. It just... seems to fit.

Alyx rises from her seat and paces back and forth in front of the fire.

"I'm so mad that I don't know what to do
Fighting with microphones
Freezing down to my bones
And to top it all off, I'm with you..."

Sam just... blinks for a few moments, when she starts singing. But by the time she gets to the end, he thinks he's got it.
(Or, well, the hallucination does. It amounts to the same thing.)

"Feel like going insane,
Got a fire in your brain,
And you're thinking of drinking gasoline?"

(Yeah, he doesn't know what gasoline is either.)

"As a matter of fact..."

"Honey, I know this act--
It's called the Tango: Maureen."

...not that he knows who Maureen is, but what's another mystery on the night, really? In any case, this bit seems to require getting up.

"The Tango: Maureen
It's a dark, dizzy merry-go-round
As she keeps you dangling..."

"You're wrong," interjects Alyx. (Though she's not entirely sure what he's wrong about.)

That's all right. Sam doesn't know either.

Your heart she's mangling..."

"It's different with me!"

"And you toss and you turn
'cause her cold eyes can burn
Yet you yearn and you churn and rebound--"

...Sam understands enough of this to guess that Maureen, whoever she is, is... somewhat indiscriminate in her company. But knowing that doesn't mean this makes any more sense.

"I think I know what you mean..."

And then, they both sing in perfect unison:

"The Tango: Maureen."

It's not a bad harmony, considering they're both sick (and Sam, for his part, doesn't sing).

Has she ever pouted her lips and called you 'Pookie'?"

...Why in the Abyss would anyone call someone 'Pookie'? The nearest thing he can think of is 'pooka,' and neither he nor this girl is a small fairy, as far as he can tell.

"Never."

Alyx has no idea who this 'Maureen' person is, but she would be extremely annoyed if anyone called her 'Pookie.'

"Have you ever doubted a kiss or two?"

...So Maureen's been indiscriminate in her company with both of... whoever these people actually are? Mostly, Sam is still confused.
But there's little to be done about that, at the moment.

"This is--spooky."

'Spooky' doesn't begin to describe it, but whatever's compelling her to sing won't let her use stronger words.

"Did you swoon when she walked through the door?"

"Every time, so be... cautious."

(In Sam's mind, this Maureen person looks a lot like Cata, now. He blames the long-standing infatuation.)

"Did she moon over other boys?"

('Moon'? What is this, 1955?)

"More than moon."

(Technically true, if the comparison holds. Cata's killed most of the men she began to bed. She built her reputation on it.)

"I'm getting nauseous."

Alyx sags back into her chair. She does feel a little queasy, and just wants to get this stupid thing over with.

Sam knows the feeling, really.
But apparently, whatever's going on has other ideas; otherwise, he wouldn't be offering her a hand.
(...he still has no idea what's going on.)

It seems like the most natural thing in the world to take that hand and let him pull her to her feet.

It takes Alyx a full five seconds to realize that they're dancing.

Sam doesn't even know this dance.
"Where'd you learn to tango?"

...seriously. FUCKIN' WEIRD.

"From the French Ambassador's daughter. In her dorm room at Miss Porter's. You?"

(No, she has no idea what she's talking about either.)

"With... Nannette Himmelfarb, the rabbi's daughter, at the Scarsdale Jewish Community Center."
...the who at the what now? No, really, about the only word of that that made sense was 'daughter.'
The dance changes a bit; she's apparently leading now. "It's hard to do this backwards."

"You should try it in heels," snaps Alyx, who has never worn high-heeled shoes in her life and has no intention of starting now.

She drops him into a low dip.

"She cheated!"
