With Boo busy at a playdate upstairs, Kate enters the main bar in search of a pineapple smoothie.

Spotting Bill, she smiles to herself as she sidles up behind him.

Reading over his shoulder, "Uh-oh, sheriff."

Bill turns to look at her, holding the paper out in disbelief.

"They lost."

Seeing his heartbroken expression, she swallows a chuckle and presses a kiss to his shoulder.

"Maybe Bar's just having a little too much fun with you."

He looks somewhat hopeful, and folds the paper to hide the headline.

"Maybe she is. Wouldn't be the first time."

Although, the breakfast she gave him seems to be meant for consoling.

Finding a smile, he offers her his hand to lead her to a seat beside him.

"Y'hungry?"

She kisses his temple before she settles on the empty stool.

"Not hungry-hungry," she tells him with a soft chuckle. "I ate a little while ago upstairs, but I kind of want a -- "

Before she can finish, a pineapple smoothie appears on the counter.

"Thanks, Bar."

Bill tilts his head at her drink.

"That looks pretty good."

Which might be his oh so subtle way of asking for some.

A half-smile tugs at Kate's lips.

Wordlessly, she slides over the glass.

She may or may not want to see just how ridiculous he looks sipping from the purple curly straw.

After all the pink, and kitties, and glitter, a curly straw isn't much to Bill anymore, and he only hesitates slightly before taking a drink from it.

His eyes widen slightly, and he smiles around the straw as he sips.

"S'good."

"And healthy," she says, giving him a teasing nudge as she reclaims the smoothie. "Imagine that."

He makes a face at her in return and picks up his fork.

"Hey, eggs are healthy. Rocky and some of those TV commercials say so."

He takes a bite and waves the fork in the air a bit.

"Not the 'this is your brain in a fryin' pan' ones, the other ones, the 'incredible egg' ones."

Her eyes flick to the eggs.

The bacon.

The sausage.

The hash browns.

The pancakes.

And back to his face.

Bill lowers his hand with the fork in it, shrinking slightly under Kate's gaze.

"It uh-- it's important t'start the day off with a good meal."

He gives a nod like he's made a point and spears a piece of sausage.

"'Sides, Bar gave it t'me."

Bemused, "The same Bar who once made you a moose for Halloween."

"She's bein' nice today."

A beat, and his eyes flick to the newspaper.

"Mostly."

Realizing he's already lost, Bill tactfully changes the subject.

"So, how's your mornin' been?"

Semi-tactfully.

"Good," she says, stirring her drink with the straw. "I must've slept harder than I thought -- I didn't hear you get up earlier."

She hadn't woken until Boo bounded onto the bed and jumped on her stomach, singing up up up, Lellow Kake!

"How about you? Sleep okay?"

"Yeah, slept okay. Just one of those mornin's for gettin' up early I guess," he says with a shrug. He doesn't remember what woke him up, and figures it doesn't matter. He's glad he didn't wake her when he left.

"Even beat Boo out of bed."

Which is kind of an accomplishment for him. It at least saved him from a gut pounce.

"Oh, I know," she says with a light laugh. "She got me in the stomach this time."

Not that she minds -- she's grateful Boo's here, playful and safe.

Bill laughs, receiving a great mental picture of that.

"I told you, she's sneaky. I take it she's out visitin' now?"

Kate nods, sneaking a crumble of bacon from one of the strips on Bill's plate.

Popping it in her mouth, she gives him an appraising sideways glance.

"Any plans after breakfast?"

"She's a popular girl," Bill says with a smile. He sees her bacon thievery, and is about to react, but then he sees the sausage and decides to take care of that quick so it doesn't bother her.

"No, no plans. D'you?"

He gives her an expectant smile and partially raised eyebrow.

She can't help a tiny smile when she spots his sausage-centered focus.

(Though really, she meant what she told him once; just because she dislikes it doesn't mean it bothers her when other people eat it.)

"Maybe."

Her eyes flick to the newspaper, and she gives him a grin that's equal parts teasing and hopeful.

"We could change and head outside so you can show me what Manning should've done in that game."

His own smile grows and he nods, not even worrying about defending Manning right this moment.

"Sure, we could do that. Y'wanna head t'the beach, or we gonna play the snowbowl?"
