(no subject)

Thar be dragons Kantri here.

Kédra's hunched by the lake's edge, doing something with the sand. Why don't you ask what? He's not hard to miss.

Oooooh, dragon!!

Urquhart isn't easily fascinated, awed, or made to gape.

But he will make an exception for a dragon.

A real dragon, which is much better than a legendary monster in his lake.

His lake, back home, not this one. Urquhart is from Castle Urquhart, on the shores of Loch Ness, and only heard of the monster yesterday. Inwardly, he is still chuckling at the mere idea.

Or was, until he saw the dragon. Now, this is a proper monster!

The dragon is blowing glass with its own fiery breath?

Urquhart is utterly fascinated now.

Stealthily, he comes closer. He wants to see more, while still keeping out of the reach of the fire.

Urquhart hides behind a boulder, fascinated like a child at the toy stall in the market.

A dragon!

Why does a dragon do such a thing? Perhaps they blow glass the way that humans blow their nose, he wonders.

Of course! Sand is used in making glass, so that's what the dragon is using, too.

Urquhart may be a little too fascinated and stick his head out from behind the boulder to see what the dragon is doing?

He certainly has no other name for such a creature.

The dragon speaks!

Very slowly, Urquhart stands up where he is, behind that boulder. Something speaking to you does not necessarily preclude them from killing you anyway. Urquhart has often enough killed people he'd talked to.

No, but still hiding when you've already been seen, in a place that a weapon (in this case, the fire) can easily reach, is silly, and likely to provoke an attack all the more easily.

"Greetings, mighty dragon!" Urquhart says.

"And you don't eat men and can think," Urquhart concludes, standing straight and relaxed, and coming out from behind the boulder.

Anything else would be as ridiculous as that girl hiding in the tree.

'Gedri' has to be what they call humans, then.

"Greetings, Kédra," he says.

It would be stupid to run away, only to be roasted from behind, now, would it?

"What are you trying to make from that glass?" Urquhart asks, instead.

"I'm sure that your people make amazing glass-blowers," Urquhart says.

A dragon!

He still can't get over the sheer amazement.
