Jack has been sitting at the bar 'cleaning his gun' cleaning his gun peacefully. After a while, however, a napkin pops up on Bar's surface, and he blinks then grins down at it.

"Of course I can," he tells her. "Where'd you keep the books?"

Ten minutes later, the specials are chalked up on the board and Jack stands ready, stripped down to shirtsleeves and a grin.

Jack raises an amused eyebrow.

"You're a harsh master," he says cheerfully.

"Predictable, but harsh. Got a bean preference, or shall I pick?"

"Surprise me," Ianto says with a casual shrug. "If I like it I may think of something less predictable for you."

"Gotcha," says Jack, thinks for a moment, then fills the bean grinder, setting it on the highest setting, to make something turkish-style.

Ianto leans his chin on his hand to watch.

...and since they're here instead of at home where he'd rather not be made the subject of office gossip (oh, you know Owen gossips like a biddy), he feels free to ogle Jack unabashedly.

Jack preens as he picks up the kanaka and places it on the heat.

Without looking up.

Forget immortality, being a showoff is his real superpower.

"You really are a born showman, Captain," Ianto says.

"Alas, that I went into the military instead," Jack laments, measuring out coffee.

"Truly a loss to all entertainment-minded types."

...little did he know.

"Isn't it?"

Mmm, hot coffee-smell.

Now... how long was he supposed to heat this again?

"Of course, in the great cause-and-effect that brought us to here and now, I admit to being a little glad."

"You deny the art world, Ianto."

FOR SHAME.

"I do," Ianto says, without a trace of shame. "Because it means I get you.

"Selfish of me, I know, but." Another shrug.

"Well, I'm okay with being in demand," Jack says, taking the coffee off the heat.

The smell is intense already, and he doesn't want to ruin the flavour, so he sets it out with a small cup and various spiced sugars in case Ianto feels playful.

...With his coffee.

Ianto's eyebrows rise at all the paraphernalia.

"Or demanding, more like," he murmurs but you know he doesn't really mind that much.

"You sure you're making me coffee and not an ice cream sundae bar?"

Oo, now there's an idea for his next happy hour.

Jack sticks his tongue out.

"It's an ancient tradition to serve with a choice of additions," he says.

Of course, given the age of the universe at large, you could say that practically anything is 'ancient tradition' and have it be true.

Oh, that gets a smirk.

"You know how I feel about additions," Ianto says, but gives some of the sugars a sniff anyway, and chooses one with some turmeric in.

"What would make this truly entertainment would be if you told my fortune after."

"I suck at tarot cards, but I'll read your palm," replies Jack.

"I meant with the coffee grounds," says Ianto, but lays out his hand palm-up anyway.
