Alex wandered in, a small bag of coin in his hand. He headed straight for Bar, and set the bag on her. He patted Bar. "Payment due, and extra, Bar, for Lorna's tab, and mine, split evenly, please." He was feeling rather jovial. Things were going well for Lorna and he, and their adventures in space had gone from cramped and annoying to fun, comfortable, and profitable.

Alex glanced at the tab board to see his and Lorna's tabs rise. With a grin and a deep breath, he settled to a barstool and tapped Bar once more. "Can I have the New York Times, a glass of root beer, and some cobalt blue base lace weight yarn, with a circular size two."

The items appeared and he smiled as he settled in to read, knit, and drink.

"It's going great!"

Alex grinned and shook his head. "So, where do I go to get prenatal information?"

"Prenatal? You mean you... hey, congratulations!" Guppy grins and claps him on the shoulder.

"I think I'd better buy you a drink."

"Thanks!" He clapped the other man in turn. "We're pretty excited. We're not sure how far we are along yet, but we think it can't be more than a few weeks."

He chuckled. "I'll take one."

"Fantastic. Well if you bring Lorna along, we can scan her and find out."

"Sounds good. I'll drag her along sometime soon. When are you here, most times?"

He smiled at the doc.

"I come and go but I'm in most days. I'll be at Life Support on Christmas Day, but that may not be the best time. Come and grab me any time you see me after that, okay?

Oh, and be careful - there's flu going around."

"We will. " he blinked. "Okay. We'll watch out." He smiled at Guppy. "Thanks."

"Any time. If I get a vaccine, I'll let you know - but for now just make sure to contact me quickly if she gets sick."

"Thank you. I will. We'll be careful, and do our best to avoid whatever it is."

"You be careful too."

"I'll do my best." Guppy says. "Not too many cases yet. More at home, to be honest."

"Hm. Even so, take care of yourself. They say more doctors get sick than anyone else."

He nodded. "Oh, do you know anything that tastes like alcohol or coffee but doesn't have alcohol or coffee in them?"

"Of course - we spend all day in contact with sick people." Guppy says.

"Er... not really, sorry. You could try alcohol free or decaf versions. Is she taking supplements?"

"Supplements?" He squinted. "What are those?"

"Vitamins. Like folic acid, for a start."

He opened his mouth, then closed it. "Bar? I need folic acid in pill doses for a pregnant woman."

A bottle appeared. Alex turned back to Guppy. "She is now."

Guppy smirks. "Good idea. Get her to drink plenty of milk too."

"Vitamins and milk, okay. And a check up soon. Cool. Any other advice?" He grinned.

"Well, if she's in the heroics business too, keeping herself safe would be a good start." Guppy says. "Do you have any idea how far along she is? Do you know the date of her last menstrual period?"

"Right now we're more in the slowly going home business, and we've talked about retiring, so... that would work."

He listened. "No, not sure of either. Another reason to get a check up when we can."

"Good. Is she in agreement with your plan to stay here?"

"Yes. Either here or a secluded place back home. We'll figure that part out as we go." He chuckled. "We have time, we think."

"Sounds like it, if you only just found out. Most women realise quite quickly."

Small smirk. "Mind you, both of ours were sort of unplanned. In fact, it was Christmas Day last year we found out we were having Coral."

Alex nodded. "This was totally unplanned, byut it's fantastic."

"How's Lorna taking it?" Guppy asks.

He nods. "We were delighted too. Also terrified. Both times, for different reasons."

"Bouncy, excited, scared, bouncy... it's kind of a merry go round right now."

He grinned goofily.

"Hopefully it will go well, and yours will continue to as well.
