Alex wandered in, a small bag of coin in his hand. He headed straight for Bar, and set the bag on her. He patted Bar. "Payment due, and extra, Bar, for Lorna's tab, and mine, split evenly, please." He was feeling rather jovial. Things were going well for Lorna and he, and their adventures in space had gone from cramped and annoying to fun, comfortable, and profitable.

Alex glanced at the tab board to see his and Lorna's tabs rise. With a grin and a deep breath, he settled to a barstool and tapped Bar once more. "Can I have the New York Times, a glass of root beer, and some cobalt blue base lace weight yarn, with a circular size two."

The items appeared and he smiled as he settled in to read, knit, and drink.

Lorna wandered in after Alex, taking a seat next to him. She ordered a cup of coffee and an English translation of the manual for their ship. It was running a little funny, and she wanted to see if there was something she could do to fine tune it.

She peered at Alex's knitting, as well. "What are you making?"

Alex smiled at her, and poked he gently. "A lace shawl in that color Emma likes. Figured a peace offering would be a good way to start things off. I have a sock project started for Scott, and wingtip covers for Warren."

He felt confident in his skill, and he knew he could get them done before they got home.

"I'm going to encourage you to make something horribly embarrassing for Scott. Because I can."

She watched his needles more for a moment, while drinking her coffee. "I like to watch you work. You've got such wonderfully deft hands."

He laughed and shrugged. "We'll see."

He blushed at her compliment, feeling warmth toward her. "You've inspired me to become better with them, love."

She giggled, squeezing his waist. "When we have kids they won't lack for snuggly wool things."

He nodded. "No more than three, I think. And I will knit them many clothes." He winked at her.

Life was pretty good right now.

Lorna frowned for a minute. There was something she'd forgotten about her conversation with Cable the other day.

Then it hit her, and she facepalmed. "I just remembered something, love."

he eyed her, curious. "What's up, baby?"

He put down the knitting, carefully.

She blushed a bit, embarrassed she'd forgotten this for so long.

"Um, when I was talking to Cable, he said we got married right before we had kids. So. . . um, there's that."

He stared.

For a few minutes.

Just a little longer.

No really.

"..."

He swallowed, then grinned slowly. "I like the name Gregory."

[magneticxman]

"We're not naming it after any member of the Brady Bunch, even if it exists beyond Nathan's imperfect recollection of a future he has been active changing."

She might be a little defensive, and is definitely remembering the times they'd been less than careful.

He sighed.

"Right. Well, having a baby might be fun."

He felt like he was ready, anyway.

"Probably," she spoke with a bit of a sigh. "You'll make a good father, that much is for sure."

She gave him a smile, though it was a worried one. She wasn't certain she'd be a good mother.

[guppy_sandhu]

"Hey Alex." Guppy wanders over, with some Christmas gingerbread men.

"Gingerbread snowman?"

Gonna take this a few hours after Lorna's thread. Hope ya don't mind.

Alex smiled and raised a hand in greeting. "Hey, Guppy, and I'd be delighted."

He held out a hand, and took one, grinning as he munched it.

Fine by me :)

"How's it going?" Guppy asks, sitting down nearby.

"It's going great!"

Alex grinned and shook his head. "So, where do I go to get prenatal information?"

[guppy_sandhu]

"Prenatal? You mean you... hey, congratulations!" Guppy grins and claps him on the shoulder.

"I think I'd better buy you a drink."

"Thanks!" He clapped the other man in turn. "We're pretty excited. We're not sure how far we are along yet, but we think it can't be more than a few weeks."

He chuckled. "I'll take one."

"Fantastic. Well if you bring Lorna along, we can scan her and find out."

[summerscurse]

"Sounds good. I'll drag her along sometime soon. When are you here, most times?"

He smiled at the doc.

[guppy_sandhu]

"I come and go but I'm in most days. I'll be at Life Support on Christmas Day, but that may not be the best time. Come and grab me any time you see me after that, okay?

Oh, and be careful - there's flu going around."

[summerscurse]

"We will. " he blinked. "Okay. We'll watch out." He smiled at Guppy. "Thanks."

"Any time. If I get a vaccine, I'll let you know - but for now just make sure to contact me quickly if she gets sick."

"Thank you. I will. We'll be careful, and do our best to avoid whatever it is."

"You be careful too."
