Happy Hour!

The long day of baking had been cathartic, and Sunshine had needed it. Rae... wasn't thinking about what was going on back home, just yet. Wasn't ready to, so wasn't going to. Not right now. She had just set the tray of still-warm baked good on the bar when she'd received a napkin.

"...Well, all right. You get some sleep," Sunshine says, slipping behind the bar and grabbing one of the drink recipe books.

She's in lime-green jeans and an electric-blue top, though they're mostly covered by the sunflower-dotted apron still tied about her waist. Where her clothes are not effectively covered, they're dusted with flour (how unusual!).

Soon, the Specials Board is up. Some the writing might be a bit cramped, but she'd had to make sure everything fit.

It takes a few minutes before he returns with plates still in hand, and now he's sniffing the air above them happily. They match their bearer a bit more now, looking more than a little like plastic restaurant window displays.

"All set!"

"I digitized 'em. I can't eat matter."

"Yup. Enzo Matrix, data sprite. Internet protection, antivirus, Game defence and system repair." He salutes smartly, and grins.

"You're welcome. Though you might not have sprites in your world," he notes. "We haven't found any that do, yet. From the outside, I mean."

Enzo beams. "Thanks. I mean, you're welcome. I mean... you know."

Darn you, language!

"I'm only a cadet, of course. But I did help save two worlds already, so that's a good start."

Enzo, who has just sampled each of his desserts, rolls his eyes in pleasure. "Lady," he says with his mouth full, jabbing a finger at the plates, "this is just as important."

He swallows a few times to clear his mouth. "Yeah. Guardian Academy."

"Combat, malware definitions, system architecture, system errors, Games, bugfixes..."

"Had a little chemistry as part of gen-ed, actually. We don't need to learn basic math, though. That'd be like you taking classes on how to make your heart beat. But yeah, it's definitely more fun than regular school."

He grimaces. "Um, yeah. This is the downer part of the conversation, sorry. Computer games are kind of deadly to us. If the User wins."

He would probably appreciate the thought, particular if it was just the games themselves, but he finds the destruction of anything computery highly disturbing, even if it's from a sprite-free world. So, probably just as well not to bring it up.

"The Games're actually loads of fun, but it's one of my functions to make sure we win against the User, 'cause otherwise..." Yeah. "Would you mind... if you can lend us a computer or a disc or something, we can scan it and see if you have sprites or not."

"Well, if you're ever able to bring something."

He nods.

"To be honest, though, I'm not sure what we'd do if we did find a world with sprites."

Launch a campaign to abolish video games? That would go down well.

"That'd be tough. But if I could find a way into the digitizer's holding computer, I could download from there. Sending a message would be easier."
