Yes, worming her way out of that one.

He looks distinctly unsatisfied with her response. "Uh huh."

But he let's it go.

"So... um... I talked to Hyde earlier."

She looks at him and frowns.

" Yeah about Hyde...not funny what you did. "

He rolls his eyes. "I swear... the pair of you... if you'd just look beneath the surface."

Another Scotch arrives as he finishes his current one.

"I wasn't trying to hook you up. I just thought you might enjoy each other's company. I like you both and I don't see why you couldn't get on."

Regretfully he adds, "but I am sorry he intruded on your date. Hope he didn't mess things up too badly."

She shrugs.

" It really wasn't so much Hyde as George and Fred. I must give him credit and say George did start it. "

"If you can get past his smart mouth you'll find he's a good enough kid."

He shrugs.

"Just saying."

" One, he's thirty years behind me in social behavior. Two, he's only been an ass so how would I know. and three, he's just weird. "

"You forgot four. He believes that he's not good enough for a nice girl like you. And you pretty much confirmed his suspicions. The whole smart ass thing is just a defense mechanism I think."

He inspects his fingernails absently.

"Sorry Rory. I see a different side to him sometimes. I was just trying to help him out with a friend or two. I'll tell him not to bother you anymore."

She deflates a little at the number four. She knew Dean had felt teh same way, seen it in his eyes at the party.

" Dammit Indy. "

She takes a swallow of her drink.

"Um... like I said... sorry. But hey... if he wanders over again, try talking to him about music or something. He seems really into all that wierd rock stuff from his time. Plays it all the time when we... uh... hang out in his room. And... he really likes his conspiracy theories."

More shrugs.

"Ah... whatever."

She smiles.

" I'll try, and music is something I can talk about usually. A rocker, I bet."

"I have absolutely no idea to tell you the truth. It's all just noise to me," he explains.

" You poor archaeologist. "

He nods sadly, playing to her mock sympathy. "I know... I need an education in this new fangled stuff."

" New fangled? Indy, there's so much stuff your head would explode and that wouldn't get you to computers and Ipods and the internet. "

Rory needs to remember some of Dr Emmet Brown's wise words from Back to the Future with regard to someone not knowing too much about their own future. But then again, he totally went against his own advice.

"Eye pods?" He pulls a face. "What're they... some new kind of vision enhancer?"

She shakes her head.

" They store songs in an itty bitty device so you can have music whereveer you go. "

"Hm... neat. Sort of like a portable radio I guess. They must be hellish expensive though. Do you have one?" he asks with interest.

" No, they are expensive, couple hundreds of dollars but they are every at Yale. Big surprise there. "

He chuckles. "Yeah... no kiddin'"

Of course a couple of hundred dollars is a big deal to even someone as rich as Indy. he decides to shelve future talk for the moment and sups deeply from his drink.

"So what do you like to do for fun Rory?"

" Fun? Oh, lots of stuff; read, listen to music, hang out with Paris as long as she's not mopy...and the usual college fun things. "

"Favorite food?" he replies, wondering if it is apparent he is surreptitiously using her mother's twenty questions game on her.

" Any food. "

And yes it is somewhat apparent, but she is willing to play along for the moment.

"If you're anything like your mom than you'll share her coffee addiction I guess, so I'll skip that one. Um... most interesting place you've traveled to?" he continues.

" I do, she instilled it while I was in the womb. "

She smiles and thinks for a minute.

" All of Europe was entertaining but the most interesting place, I must say was Prague. Beautiful city and very traditional yet so very diverse at the same time. "

(ooc: mun is using own experience here which would be why she's not mentioning Paris or any other well-known European city....may throw in Vienna if it gets mentioned. )
