Happy Hour, Cubefall Edition!

It's been a pleasant enough month. After all the hullabaloo of the Shindig cleared out, Kate took some time to herself to relax. She's been around, in and out of the stables as usual, but mostly sticking to the libraries and her room.

She's pleased when she comes downstairs and gets a reminder of just what the date is.

The familiar screen pops up:

Hello! Welcome to Milliways. Today, Milliways marks the Cybertronian holiday of Cubefall, the anniversary of the day upon which the Allspark first landed on the rocky world that would become Cybertron. Would you like to sample some possible reconfigurations? (y/n)





Kate grins, taking some time to pore over the choices. The robot is a little unsettling; the horse is tempting. She was a fella two years back for the holiday, and she actually quite enjoyed the experience. Folk always like to compare what a woman can do to what a man can do. Getting some actual idea of what the differences really are...

She chews on her lip, and hits the series of buttons it takes to reconfigure her. Hell if she won't have some more fun with this.

When it's done, a napkin pops up on the Bar.

"Y'jus' like askin' me when I'm tall 'nough t'reach the shelves, don't you?" 'he' grumbles, not without amusement.

He leaps over the counter spryly, and quickly scribbles up a few specials.

"'Kay." Mairi has no use for them; she waves the flip-flops in Ako's direction.

Ako leans over and more or less plucks them from Mairi so she can tuck them back in her sylladex.

"Do you know what anyone else has changed to yet?"

[a1enzo]

Mairi goes back to trying to drape ribbons over her head as well.

"Well," he gestures to the bartender, "that's Kate Barlow."

Ako tilts her head sideways at that news.

"Huh."

Somehow close enough to normal to be slighter stranger than an animal would be.

[a1enzo]

"I don't think I'd go for that. I mean, you know, being a girl."

Mairi looks up, considering this. "Aunt Enzo?"

"Not gonna happen, Mairi."

"Aunt Enzo!" Mairi repeats, delighted.

"Think of all the educational experiences!"

Think of all the embarrassing jpegs.

"No."

"Heeheeheeheeheehee!"

[seat_five_girl]

Not a lot of point in pushing until Enzo pulls up his vidwindow anyway.

"Aww."

[a1enzo]

"Look, girls are great, I just like... liking them from the outside."

Beat.

"Where I'm taller."

There it is.

[seat_five_girl]

"But science Enzo, what about the science?"

[a1enzo]

"My dad's the scientist. He can be a woman if he wants."

[seat_five_girl]

Ako taps her fingers a couple of times.

"Yeah, okay. That's fair."

[a1enzo]

It's true, anyway; considering his sister, she-Enzo would probably be tiny.

"Not one of my options this time anyway. All the forms it gave me start with E. Cubefall joke, I guess."

[seat_five_girl]

"Everything?"

Why yes, she's running with the theme. Why do you ask?

[a1enzo]

Enzo shoots her a sharp look.

"You're having fun, aren't you?"

[seat_five_girl]

Smirk.

"Yup."

[a1enzo]

"I've got an elephant, an elephant shrew, and elephant seal, an echidna, and an Electric Monk, whatever the heck that is."

[seat_five_girl]

"I know there are motorized prayer wheels, but that seems like taking it too far. If it's a robotic monk like it sounds like."

[a1enzo]

"Yeah, I really don't get it. Anyway, I'm already a prophet. It seems a little pointless."

[seat_five_girl]

"About the User stuff right. Any new snags on that lately?"

[a1enzo]

"Not really. Everyone's got pretty much used to it. At the Academy, anyway. Though the new term's about to start, so there'll be new cadets to tell."

[seat_five_girl]

"Are you up to brochures to hand out yet, or is it still more lectures?"

[a1enzo]

"Oh, I write reports, too. When I can think of something new to fill one up."

[seat_five_girl]

"Pretty much tapped out on how you spent your girlfriend's summer vacation, huh."

[a1enzo]

"Heh. More like what planets and space are like, or human anatomy."

"His girlfriend's nice!" pipes Mairi, that being just about the only part of this dialogue she understands.
