It's nearly time, do you know where your happy hour tender is? Well, to be fair, neither does the guy inside of the kitchens tonight. Which is why Beauford leans out to check, he's got a napkin waiting for him on the bar.
"...sure, I can pick up a shift.."
With that the napkin disappears.
"...oh, you mean tonight." He's just going to pull off the grungy kitchen apron and reach over to write on the specials board for tonight with a chalk marker.

Lemon Lavender Cheesecake Martini

Darius is going to take advantage of this and slide onto one of the empty stools.
"Mac n Cheese?"
no subject
Certainly is a real human back here, even if he is a tad food-grubby smelling.
Beauford's still grinning though. "It's good, not the kraft stuff, real queso blanco and five year sharp cheddar."
no subject
"Um...right. So...what is it?"
no subject
Right classic mistake, assuming a human is from Earth.
"It's a dish made from boiled semolina wheat noodles, and a gooey cheese sauce."
no subject
"Ah. Sounds good. I'll try that, please."
no subject
Just criminal that is.
"Coming right up, you want anything to drink while you wait?"
no subject
"Sure!" Something to drink is always a good thing. "How about a cider?"
no subject
He's just going to pour it into a cold mug from the tap before heading back into the kitchen for the order.

"Just good old mac and cheese, not the kraft kind, made with milk, butter, queso blanco, 5 year sharp cheddar and smoked chipolte. For a few extra dollars I can mix in some veggies, shrimp, chicken or steak as well."

She tightens the lid on her bottle of orange soda, and drops it into her purse for later.

He has to bend over and duck into one of the minifridges below the bar but.
"Chocolate, banana, strawberry, caramel, whole, two percent, one percent, or skim? You're going to be spoiled for choice here.."

"Bit of both, got hired for tending tonight, but the cooking is somewhere between hobby and paying the rent right now."

Gus eagerly sits down at the bar and licks his lips; "Ribs, mac and cheese, and big ass banana daiquiri - please."
no subject
He's just finishing taking someone else's order before he gets that daiquiri started in the blender. Lots of good old bananas, rum, sugar, ice, and a just a hint of lime juice.
no subject
He watches with an eager smirk as the drink comes together in a flash of cold goodness. "You the cook? Or just got good taste?"
no subject
The drink, as requested, is served in the largest glass he can find, with straw and fancy little paper umbrella.
"You want full or half rack of ribs? and all together at once, Gus?"
no subject
"I'll take a half and a big order of mac... same time is just fine by me."
He's got full respect for anyone that can cook - he's just got the eating part down.
no subject
"Gimme about ten and it'll be right out, piping hot."
...and he's not going to lie, Beauford loves the sort of kick he gets from seeing people enjoy good food. He's just loves it too much to do it in a non-bizarre professional setting.
no subject
He flashes a grin that directed at anyone but someone serving up good hot food would probably be just a little creepy. And probably is still sort of creepy.
Thank god Milliways has the market cornered on bizarre.

It does take more than 10 minutes, but the smell of that hot plate of ribs, sweet potato steak fries and that mac and cheese... Real cheese in the noodles, ribs were smoked for hours before getting braised, coated in caramel-onion sauce and then grilled...
And Beauford with the smuggest expression of smug, waiting for Gus's expression at the taste.
