There was a kaiju attack on St. Lawrence Island today. The memorial service for Gunnar and Vic Tunari is scheduled for three days from now.

Pentecost is not about to admit it in front of everyone in the Shatterdome, but he needs to punch something.

Perhaps there will be an opportunity somewhere at Milliways.

"I agree."

The Knight isn't entirely sure himself but also doesn't care. He got what he wanted in the end, certainly more than anything gained from the heavy bag.

He holds his hand out for another shake. "It was a good fight. Thank you."

Pentecost flexes his fingers to make sure there's no lasting harm done, and then shakes the offered hand. "You're welcome," he says. "I needed that."

The Knight nods in understanding.

"Need a drink as well?"

"I wouldn't say no," says Pentecost. "I'll even stand the second round. Only fair."

The Knight smiles and nods at this. Though the smile dims while he removes the cord around his neck, not yet freeing the ring from the simple threaded loop. He holds the band a little tighter in his palm than he needs to as he decides something.

"Lohengrin is my name," he finally introduces.

"Stacker Pentecost," Pentecost says. "Pleasure to meet you, Lohengrin."

With a name like his, he's long, long since grown past the point of assuming anything whatsoever about another person's provenance based upon their name.

"Likewise."

And then, "I'd say something about Stacker being a peculiar name but I've met at least two people who've got you beat on that front."

Not including himself.

"It's not particularly common in England," Pentecost admits. "My parents named me after an American friend. I understand it's more common over there."

Not by much, but still.

"Would that be here, or in your own world?"

"Both. A young man here by the name of Autor and a royal at home called Princess Tutu."

Though now that he thinks about it, Duck and Fakir both have odd names. Neither of them have been around much. What could be happening?

"American?"

Pentecost considers the question for a moment, and vaguely recalls someone telling him that historical figures might be found here. So he nods, and he says, "A country formerly composed of English colonies that gained their independence. They've grown a bit in the past few hundred years."

"Ah, I see," the Knight says. "A lot can change over years and years, especially countries. I wonder how I didn't hear about it before."

"Americans tend to assume they'll be recognized as such," says Pentecost dryly. "Particularly if they hail from certain areas- New York, Texas, California, names like that."

"I have heard some of those places here. Perhaps I should get a map."

"It might not be a bad idea," says Pentecost. "What century are you from? There may be more changes than you'd think."

The Knight names a year that speaks of chivalry and feudalism. He scratches his head as he admits, "I've run into others who know my story. And the current customs here sometimes clash with what I know."

Pentecost nods. "Long before the discovery of the Americas, then," he says, "except by the Vikings. I'm surprised they haven't clashed more. I've arrived from the year 20222 A.D., myself. This place'll do a number on anyone's head, if you're not careful."

"I suppose there's a level of adjus....20222 A.D.?" Lohengrin has to repeat to make sure. "Truly?"

Pentecost inclines his head in acknowledgment. "November sixth of that year," he adds. "I was born in 1985."

"But how?"

"The usual way, according to my mother," Pentecost says, and there's just a hint of a smile to his expression.

Lohengrin opens his mouth a moment before he realizes what Stacker meant and can't help but smile.

"Not that. The great number of years between 1985 and 20222."
