Quentin's sitting at the counter with one of the brochures and a pen marking that parts that don't make sense. There are lots of questions marks and use of a few specific words; how?, contract?.

He's eating a sandwich with a soda beside him as he works, looking up sometimes to note who comes in. When he goes back home, he's going to have as much information as possible about Milliways in case he comes back again or doesn't.

His disguise is up, leaving him looking like a fifteen year old boy just one who tends to hold his back rather straight.

"I agree, its useful that way. Did you make that or did someone else?"

"You should already know the answer to that," Autor says, shaking his head. "You haven't answered my questions yet."

"Its technology and magic, even if you didn't make it, you've clearly adapted it to work for you. I can't think of anything else to be added,"

Its sort of like what the phones they make at ALH.

"It's technology sufficiently advanced," Autor says, adjusting his glasses. He sets his notes aside. "And I picked it up here."

"Like your magic carpet? What did you give in exchange for them?"

They both must have been costly trades.

"The carpet I worked three jobs over an extended period of time for, and bought," Autor says, watching him carefully. "The sylladex was gifted for free."

"A generous gift," Quentin's face is neutral as he listens.

"It was," Autor admits. "Do you have any gifts like that?"

He sips his soda instead of answering, he hasn't asked for a lot from the Luidaeg, but in other ways a lot, just not things,

Soon he's going to ask to be Toby's squire but that's different, "No, I don't."

"Do you have magical artifacts available like the carpet?" the boy asks, accepting a cup of tea from a wait rat.

"Yes, we do have some."

"Oh? Like what?" Autor says, sipping his tea.

"Most are them are hidden away in treasuries as they're safest there," He's not going to say anymore than that.

"And you'll probably not say anymore than that, I wager," Autor says, nodding. "Is magic part of your day to day life in the courts, then?"

He has a feeling Quentin has to hide it from the humans that he lives with normally.

"Its a part of my daily life."

"So do you live among humans, then? It sounds like you do," Autor explains, almost apologetic for the assumption.

"Yes, I do,"

Not as much as he used to because that's dangerous for all involved. Its important to not be completely cut away, Toby's teaching him that, the hard part is to not put any humans or Fae at risk.

"And I'm guessing they're generally unaware of who you are," Autor points out.

"Its best that way,"

He'll never forget the look on Katie's face when she saw him in Blind Michael's realm, that's why they must be careful.

"Why do you live amongst humans, then?" Autor asks, sipping his tea.

"All sorts of reasons,"

He shrugs as he doesn't want to go into that much detail and how Toby lives more among humans than other Fae. Quentin used to be more but now he's not, it changes.

"Which you're unlikely to disclose," Autor says, nodding. "How old are you?"

"Yes, it gets into other things that I'm not going to share. Fifteen, what about you?"

"Seventeen," Autor says, but doesn't explain more than that. "How old were you when you were made a page?"

"Why do you want to know?" Its an odd detail to be curious about.
