Alana's there with a plate of gluten-free brownies, waiting for anyone who needs to talk. She's in a hydrangea print wrap dress and comfortable shoes.

Bonnie is looking tired, but since she didn't actually attend the AA meeting, figures she should probably come back.

"Funny-lookin' cake." she comments. "Special flavour?"

"No, they're gluten-free brownies," Alana says with a gentle smile. "How are you, Bonnie?"

[is_the_motion]

"The hell is gluten?" Bonnie asks, sitting down nearby.

"I'm fine." she adds, as convincingly as she can manage.

[patterns_bloom]

"Gluten is a protein found in flours and other things," Alana says, titling her head. "I'm glad to hear that you're doing all right. Have you had any luck in quitting drinking?"

[is_the_motion]

"Well, I was supposed to try and go to AA but... that didn't really happen."

[patterns_bloom]

"Oh, really?" Alana says, offering her the plate of brownies. "What prevented you from going?"

[is_the_motion]

"I went in there with Turtle, one of my biker friends, and as I was about to walk in I saw my boss sitting there."

"And you were worried that your boss might see you?" Alana says, nodding thoughtfully.

[is_the_motion]

"Yeah. I thought she'd fire me. So we hid in a cupboard."

[patterns_bloom]

"I see," Alana says, furrowing her brow. "Why did you think she would fire you if she was struggling with alcoholism just the same?"

[is_the_motion]

"Because I operate heavy machinery."

[patterns_bloom]

"Is there another AA meeting in town that you could go to, or is that the only one?" Alana says, shaking her head.

[is_the_motion]

"There is, but, well... me and Turtle kind of got it on, so I feel this is a better distraction."

[patterns_bloom]

Alana blinks at her. "Ah, all right," she says. "Do you not want to try to head to the other AA meeting, then?"

[is_the_motion]

"I don't think I got enough room in my schedule fer AA and secret sex." Bonnie says quietly.

[patterns_bloom]

"Fair enough," Alana says, lacing her fingers together. "As long as you know that's what you want to do with your life. Will Turtle help you to quit drinking?"

[is_the_motion]

"Yeah, he quit a few years back."

Bonnie frowns. "What do you mean 'want to do with my life'? I thought all you modern folks weren't so judgey about casual sex."

[patterns_bloom]

"I'm sorry, Bonnie," Alana says, kicking herself. "I didn't mean to come off as judgmental. I'm glad you're having a good time with Turtle, and I hope it continues. I was just worried that you might want to go to the AA meeting instead."

[is_the_motion]

"Nah, boring." Bonnie says.

Then more seriously. "I haven't felt like having a drink recently though. I've been really tired and just been goin' to bed."

"That's good at least," Alana says, nodding thoughtfully. "Sleep is good when you're tired. How have you been sleeping?"

[is_the_motion]

"Like a brick." Bonnie says. "I been wondering if I took on a bit much." she admits quietly.

[patterns_bloom]

"What's been going on in your life lately?" Alana says, furrowing her brow.

[is_the_motion]

"Well, I look after two foster boys, though they've not been too much hassle, but I took on my granddaughter recently too and she's quite hard work. And then there's the relationship with Turtle. And work. And I haven't had time to go out much with the bikers lately."

[patterns_bloom]

"That sounds like a full life," Alana says, inclining her head. "No wonder you've been sleeping so hard. I hope you get to go out with the bikers again soon. Is your granddaughter placed with you permanently?"
