Milli-timed to Tuesday the 28th - New Orleans Mardi Gras
The bar room of Milliways is always full of sound - the clatter of dishes and clink of glasses, chairs being scooted back or further in, footsteps upon the floor, rats squeaking, the background murmur of conversations overlapping one another.
But tonight the main door to the bar opens to the mouth of an city alleyway, to a caucophony of noise and music, full of seething crowds and colorful parade floats, the smells of food and sweat and smoke and beer and those colorful fruity drinks sold in yard-long plastic glasses with umbrellas in them. Mardi Gras is in full swing and New Orleans has outdone itself this time.
Yrael enters, trailing laughter from a section of the crowd on the other side. His white hair is decorated with purple, gold and green feathers, his pale face partially hidden by a sharp, glittery cat mask of gold, behind which his green eyes are bright. Over his white shirt this evening he wears a shiny waistcoat of purple, gold, green, and black. It's clearly party time, big time, show time -
"And then some!" he grins, seeing Milliways. "Fat Tuesday is upon us, Milliways! Welcome to Mardi Gras! Come, dance, explore! Laissez les bons temps rouler!"
Yrael will make sure the door stays open for any party-goer who would like to partake in the joie de vivre, and the Bar can certainly provide a change of costume...
(ooc: The post will be open all weekend and into next week as needed! Usual party-thread guidelines apply! Tag in! Threadhop! Meet new people and get into trouble! :D Yrael will be around, but his mun will not be able to tag much until Monday evening. <333333)

Re: Food and Drink, etc.
He has, and there's a flash of curiosity in his eyes, a smile in return, then he steps over that way.
"Good evening."
Re: Food and Drink, etc.
Re: Food and Drink, etc.
"Giovanni, please", he says easily in 18th-century French, catching Sinric's smile and letting his eyes wander.
It's nice to be able to use his real name again, where in his world only three people he can still talk to know it, and can only call him by it in private.
Re: Food and Drink, etc.
He, in the other hand, was enjoying being someone else for the night. Someone who doesn't feel the need to justify his gender and is happy to roll with other people's assumptions.
Re: Food and Drink, etc.
The word 'sin' sounds quite different in both French and Italian, so he doesn't raise his eyebrows at that as an English-speaker might.
"It's a pleasure to meet you, Sin, and in such an interesting place."
Re: Food and Drink, etc.
Re: Food and Drink, etc.
Giovanni eyes the box, a slow smile growing on his face.
"And what are those for?"
Re: Food and Drink, etc.
Re: Food and Drink, etc.
"If it lives up to the promise, certainly." He offers his arm. "Shall we walk a little among the stalls, while you decide?"
Re: Food and Drink, etc.
Re: Food and Drink, etc.
Giovanni approves of all these attributes!
"Whichever may present themselves, and this seems to be a city that appreciates all manner of pleasures."
He'll start with some good food.
Re: Food and Drink, etc.
It's a show, but one he's enjoying very much.
Re: Food and Drink, etc.
Giovanni watches him without shame, then turns to the food on offer.
"Pancakes?"
Re: Food and Drink, etc.
Which the stall-holder is all too happy to offer, looking mildly pole-axed
Re: Food and Drink, etc.
Giovanni grins at him.
"And I shall have the same."
Re: Food and Drink, etc.
Sin gently draws Giovanni away from the crowd to a semi secluded corner where they can sit and enjoy their food.
Re: Food and Drink, etc.
He's more than willing to be drawn.
"And in a decadent city. It reminds me of the Carnival."
Re: Food and Drink, etc.
Re: Food and Drink, etc.
Most of Giovanni's attention is on Sinric, only sparing enough for his food to eat and enjoy it.
"Venice, born and bred. My father was a merchant there."
Re: Food and Drink, etc.
He rests the hand not currently currently chasing chocolate with slithers of strawberry on Giovanni's thigh. Casually.
Re: Food and Drink, etc.
In response, Giovanni casually shifts a little closer.
"It's a city of canals, as it was built on marshland, and tall buildings. The lowest floor tends to sink into the earth, so we live in the upper ones."
Re: Food and Drink, etc.
Re: Food and Drink, etc.
"Once a year, before Lent", Giovanni tells him, a glance flickering down at Sin's hand before he lifts his own to brush against it. "The Church doesn't like it, they call it licentious and sinful, but it's been our tradition for many centuries."
Re: Food and Drink, etc.
Re: Food and Drink, etc.
"In mine, also." There's something less happy hiding behind his smile for just a moment, but then it's gone. "But all's well that ends well."
