Milli-timed to Tuesday the 28th - New Orleans Mardi Gras
The bar room of Milliways is always full of sound - the clatter of dishes and clink of glasses, chairs being scooted back or further in, footsteps upon the floor, rats squeaking, the background murmur of conversations overlapping one another.
But tonight the main door to the bar opens to the mouth of an city alleyway, to a caucophony of noise and music, full of seething crowds and colorful parade floats, the smells of food and sweat and smoke and beer and those colorful fruity drinks sold in yard-long plastic glasses with umbrellas in them. Mardi Gras is in full swing and New Orleans has outdone itself this time.
Yrael enters, trailing laughter from a section of the crowd on the other side. His white hair is decorated with purple, gold and green feathers, his pale face partially hidden by a sharp, glittery cat mask of gold, behind which his green eyes are bright. Over his white shirt this evening he wears a shiny waistcoat of purple, gold, green, and black. It's clearly party time, big time, show time -
"And then some!" he grins, seeing Milliways. "Fat Tuesday is upon us, Milliways! Welcome to Mardi Gras! Come, dance, explore! Laissez les bons temps rouler!"
Yrael will make sure the door stays open for any party-goer who would like to partake in the joie de vivre, and the Bar can certainly provide a change of costume...
(ooc: The post will be open all weekend and into next week as needed! Usual party-thread guidelines apply! Tag in! Threadhop! Meet new people and get into trouble! :D Yrael will be around, but his mun will not be able to tag much until Monday evening. <333333)

She glances up at him.
"Why St. Kitts?"
no subject
He shrugs slightly.
"I suppose I've just spent the most time there. The people are friendly and it's a good place to reprovision."
no subject
She can understand that.
"And where do you call home?"
no subject
"On board ship." He doesn't think twice about the answer. "Her name is the Dutchman. On land, no place more than any other."
Not any more, but that's OK.
no subject
"The Flying Dutchman?"
no subject
"Yes, as it happens."
He watches her face, trying to judge if she'll assume it's ironically named, or the actual one.
no subject
"And how did you get here?"
She's guessing there's no giant ship off land.
no subject
"Here, in New Orleans? I came through a door."
Either that will answer her question, or she'll think he's drunk and talking nonsense, and then he'll know if she's another guest of Yrael or not.
no subject
Either she's wrong and he'll think she's drunk, or she's right.
She thinks she's right.
no subject
He grins. "And so are you. Good, or else you might have thought I was quite mad."
no subject
Or not, but she doesn't have to deal with it now.
"I agree this is better. Enjoying your time out?"
no subject
"Very much", he says sincerely. "I rarely get the chance to visit other worlds, and even more rarely one with such... energy."
no subject
Only she is immune, even if the beat of the music is starting to get to her.
"It's usually fairly quiet."
no subject
"In this city?" he asks curiously. "I haven't been here before."
no subject
She needs to make that known.
"Louisiana in general is pretty quiet."
no subject
He nods. "But then this, I suppose, is a rather exceptional day. A party like this, one would have to either join in or leave until it's over."
no subject
"Or sit in your room with pillows over your head until the last party goers have passed out."
no subject
"Also a possibility", he says easily. "At least Mardi Gras comes only once a year."
no subject
Thankfully.
"Unless, of course, I attend."
no subject
"Unless you do." He glances at the swirling crowds all around them. "I don't suppose you'd like to dance?"
no subject
"I'd love to."
When in Rome...
no subject
"Very good!" He offers her his hand once again.
