Outside on the grass, from the Scout Hut towards the beach, there is bunting and fairy lights and a large banner.

MILLIWAYS THIRD COUNTY FAIR

The fair is here for the whole week, and there's something for everyone, so come along and join us!

"Jedha's sun was never hot enough for that." He looks up at the sky as he prepares a stuffed bread for Galen. "But here where it's so warm. Do you know where we could get designs for those?"

Galen grins like a bantha on happy pills. "Me," he says. "I'll make one for tomorrow."

"I'll start researching what wood and meat go best together. Maybe experiment with different ones." He touches Galen's face softly. "Tomorrow. I thought tonight we could... try the bath in our room. Together."

Oh, Bodhi!

"Oh yes," Galen says. "Just the right thing after a day in the warm sun, with food and smoke and work and fun."

"I know things have been hard and I- I haven't been-" Ready? Okay? Right in the head. "But I want- if you're willing?"

"More than willing," Galen says. "Eager. And mostly free of the bruises that stopped us, too."

Bodhi draws him in, pressing forehead to forehead, touching their noses softly.

"Bodhi," Galen whispers.

"You know I love you." He whispers, very softly.

"As I love you," Galen whispers back. "Isn't it marvellous how we can touch in public and be a couple, and nobody even minds?"

Bodhi ducks his head, colouring warmly. "I'm still not use to it. People are so- open here." He nods to where Sinric is kissing Emcee at the kissing booth.

"They have learned to not be afraid any longer, and just do what comes natural," Galen says. "Under the Empire, we were constantly afraid of almost everything."

Bodhi pulls Galen closer, just holding him. "I want to learn that too." There's an apology in his tone, for not being as quick to let go of his fear.

"We will learn it together, slowly," Galen promises him. "Letting go of a deep, systemic fear is oddly difficult."

"Thank you." For understanding. For staying. For still wanting a broken mess that Bodhi is now.

"So," Galen says. "How about I get the wood you wanted, and then get started on the solar powered grill for tomorrow? And when the fair closes -- bath-time?"

"Yes. Bath time. Just you and me." He smiles softly. "And the cats. But I think we can keep them out of the bathroom."

"I think they don't like water much, except to drink it," Galen says.

"Kyber seems to. He was playing in the kitchen sink while I was cooking. He doesn't seem to mind."

"While there was water in it, or just drops?"

"While water was running." It still weirds him out that water just runs here. "He seemed to like playing in it."

"Perhaps he is a water cat," Galen says. "They exist; I read it in a book. A breed called Van is famous for it."

"Or he just doesn't know any better." Bodhi smiles softly, shaking his head. The antics of their little ginger ninja keep him distracted and amused.

Bodhi rubs their noses together again, kissing Galen's cheek. "I should get back to cooking. But as soon as it's time to pack up, we'll go upstairs. Together."

"I'll be around, and will come back when the fair closes up," Galen says.

A sign had said Chirrut and Baze were going to compete in something. Galen is going to watch, and cheer for them if there is any cheering, because coming from the same world beats the occasional black eye. Yay for the Galaxy far, far away!

So he kisses Bodhi again, steals a spicy dumpling, and wanders off.

Bodhi watches him go, a smile lingering on his lips. Could they really be so open here?

As the fair comes to a close, he starts to pack up the stall, taking the last of his wares over to the fire where people are gathering, hoping to find Galen there.
