"You know what, let's have a party."

Dinah threw her platinum card (thanks, Oracle) on the Bar and as a result there is free flowing champagne for everyone whose culture, age and religion permits champagne - and top quality soft alternatives for the rest. There are bar snacks doing the rounds around the tables, and delicate winter flower arrangements on each surface.

And most importantly, on the TV screen is a lot of dancing, a giant countdown, and a big ball ready to drop.

...and when the ball drops, something happens.

Welcome to another Milliways All-Skate!
All welcome - yes, that means all. Whether they're retired, deleted, AU, original or already being played by someone else, bring 'em along.

Usual all-skate rules apply:
1. Everyone's stressed out of their mind right now, so have fun!
2. Communication is key.
3. Gratuitous behaviour (either of a violent or sexual nature) will not be tolerated in the bar proper. Take that to an OOM, and then Content Warning the hell out of it before you link it.
4. Much like Vegas, what happens in All Skates, stays in All Skates (in most cases)
5. Please don't be a dick.

Charles looks up with a smile and considers the tables and how he can get up, "I'll come up."

Then he takes his jacket off, hanging it on a chair before climbing onto a table and pulls himself up, he feels precarious but he likes the view as he takes his drink back.

Also he has Dick right there, ready to reach out and grab him if any assist if needed. But Dick trusts him to find his way, and figures that he'll ask if he needs.

When they're both together, Dick passes over the flute with a flourish and beams at him.

"Happy New Year," he says.

He takes the glass and clinks it with Dick, "Happy New Year! How are you doing?"

"Not too bad," Dick says. "World is currently saved, thinking of resdesigning the costume. How's everything for you?"

"What would you redesign it to? Good, figuring out college and what I want to study,"

He has options and he's trying to find the best one to do what he wants.

Dick takes a sip of his champagne and then, lifting his legs up, spins so his back to to Charles, from where he leans back, resting his head in his lap.

He mentally flicks through a few ideas - the collar is going, for a start, and he's clearly thinking of something more form fitting, less actual skin, possibly more black than blue.

"What are your options? Humanities or science?"

Charles rests his free hand on Dick's head as he enjoys the images,

"Elegant though I like the blue, it looks good on you. Science, but figuring out which part of it; Research, clinical, psychology or genetics."

Dick draws a mental line through the red and yellow options, then. "Does the black look too battish?"

"Psychology's a natural fit, though, but I can definitely see you in a white coat doing genetic experiments."

"Not with the other colors, all black would be. I know, I can see doing both, so far most of the classes are the same,"

That means he has more time to decide.

Dick cheerfully pulls up a mental image of Charles and dresses him in the lab coat in question. There are googles. He plays with his hair a bit, makes it scruffy and scientist-y.

Charles laughs and mentally fixes his hair, then substitutes an image of himself sitting in an office in a nice suit listening to someone, "That wouldn't be as messy."

"Wait, hang on - "

Dick fixes the line of the suit, makes it a little more professional. Adds sock-suspenders.

Charles gets glasses, which make him look very intelligent and also incredibly attractive.

Mentally Charles fixes the tie and adjusts the glasses before adding Dick sprawled out on a nearby leather couch in a blue and black striped sweater vest and with lovely tousled hair, "Better."

Sweater vest?

"Really?"

SILK vest. Dashing suit.

Sweater vests are soft, "Your suit will end up wrinkled."

Charles switches out his outfit to a black turtleneck and no glasses, slightly more casual. He's aiming for that bohemian downtown look, but he's a little too formal to carry it off.

"Ahead of your time," Dick says. He gives Charles a black beret and sunglasses to match the beatnik look.

"I am? I've seen people dressed like this in New York,"

Most of them pulling it off better than he is.

"Maybe I'm out of touch with my history?"

Dick eases out of the day dream and looks up at Charles' real face. "What year has it just turned for you?"

"1957, when is it for you?" Time in Milliways is weird.

"1997."

Time is weird - but lots of things are weird. "I thought it was earlier for you, I must have stopped paying attention somewhere."

"It might have been before,"

After all, he hasn't been consistently coming to Milliways.

"At least time isn't running backwards."

This is a legitimate risk, okay? It happens!

Dick reaches up a hand and brushes a bit of hair away from Charles' face.

"Oh great, 50s hair product."

"Has that happened to you? What else would I use?"

Especially for a party like this, that's what makes his hair behave.

"Ever thought about just going natural?"

Dick is kidding, his hair is full of product himself.

He shakes his head though - lots of time wierdness in his life, but it hasn't run backwards yet.

"I like my hair how it is," He gives Dick's hair a kind of a ruffle with a smile.
