Battle?

Well, it all started a few centuries back - the Adversary had invaded the Homelands, and a few scattered survivors from the various lands managed to make it to a handful of gates that brought us to the mundy world. We settled in a nice little town in the Americas known as New Amsterdam, hoping to remain inconspicuous.*shrug* We thought we had succeeded, until a week or so back, when the Adversary sent the first few of his troops through the Kanda - sorry - Canada gate. They made some silly proclamation about how we should roll over and show throat just because He decided to send out a few wooden troops after all these centuries. I pulled out the old battle plan, called in the Farm fables, and we managed to get enough defenses and weaponry to have a fighting chance. Things started out well enough, since they seemed to have trouble aiming, and they didn't have enough guns to go around. The grenades helped, and I thought that bringing out Clara - our dragon - would be the best way to stop a soldier made of WOOD. Fuck, that was a bad idea . . . If Bigby hadn't come along to blow them out - I had to leave then. I couldn't face him after all that . . .

Now that Bigby's returned? Much better than they were, at any rate - he demolished the gate behind them, so they won't be able to bring reinforcements. We still don't know where the fake Red went to . . . she may be a problem.

Well, as far as the "official" version goes, you've likely heard of it - there have been several movies and countless books on it, though my sister gets far less publicity. Bloody and pointless tends to describe the actual version of most of our tales. The endings, at least . . .

*sigh* Bigby. I wasn't able to handle the defenses on my own . . . he showed up and stopped them all in one breath. And that's just in the short-term sense of things.
