"It's even prettier with the lyrics."

He tilts his head.

"Yeah?"

"I asked him...about what we'd discussed?"

There's a look. It'e the 'I hope you weren't kidding' look.

"And what'd he say?"

"He almost jumped me right then, actually..."

It's a sheepish one now.

Alex chuckles softly.

"Well, I don't blame him, certainly... I take it he's not opposed to the idea, then?"

The sheepish look goes into a full on vampiric blush, wherein he looks human and ducks his head a great deal.

"No. He was...rather enthusiastic. Exceedingly...enthusiastic. As I said...with...jumping me."

Another soft chuckle.

"Looks like we've got a plan, then."

"That's a plan? He jumps me, I drag him upstairs and...the two of us have our wicked way with the poor man?"

That gets a laugh, low but loud.

"Did they skip tactics when you were trained?"

"Oh, shut up, it's too early to be thinking logically, I'm not awake yet. Besides, it's the beginnings of a plan. Once everything else is worked out it'll be a strategy."

He sobers, taking a sip of his tea. "No. I learned tactics very well during the Tusaine war."

A bit of footsie.

You know where I was going with that. No getting upset.

It helps that he sends it with a warm wave of love.

More tea.

I was just stating a fact. Love you.

You mentioned war. That's never good. And I love you too.

A sip from his own beverage of choice before he peers at the book Alex is working on.

"Same thing or something new?"

We did win. Roger kept me away from most of the fighting, anyway.

He rubs the back of his neck, getting the stiffness out.

"New one. I read quickly. This one's actually from my world, too, it was one of my favourites when I was a teenager. Gary used to try to get me to sing the songs in it at the girls he liked at night and pretend it was him."

He smiles wide.

"You sing, Alex?"

"Yeah. I haven't properly for a while, but knights're usually taught something like that, singing or music or whatever, and the tutors said I had a good voice, so..."

He shrugs. "I like it. It's relaxing."

He smiles at Alex.

"I'd like to hear that sometime. Maybe...maybe a little duet. Me on the piano and...you singing. If you give me the sheet music...I'm sure I could play any of that music you were talking about."

I like your voice.

A smile. "Sure, if you like. I'm sure Bar can get me some sheet music. I could probably write it out from memory, but it'd just be the melody, not the contrasting harmony, so... if Bar can't get it for us, maybe Alanna would, next time she goes to Tortall."

Tortall hasn't been home for Alex for a long time. Nick is home now.

"That would be nice. I...I like doing things with you, Alex."

Besides sex...not that I don't heartily enjoy the sex.

A smirk crosses his face.

"Like how we kept saying we'd spar a little?"

He frowns suddenly.

"The piano's down here... could we do it some time when there weren't a lot of people around? I never got used to singing for an audience..."

He chuckles softly. "We will, eventually, I'm sure. Join in my practice next time. I do practice every day."

He laughs.

"Ah, but that's...usually when I'm off comforting Charlie and ambushing David and...doing all sorts of nonsense that makes you blink when you come downstairs."

A theatrical hand to his forehead.

"However shall I do without such things?"

"I could always change my practice time, you know. I'm not that much a creature of habit."

He grins and sends a rather interesting image across the bloodlink.

"Or I could bribe you."

Nick grins.

"That's an idea. I suppose."

A sly grin.

Alex looks innocent and sips his tea. ~~And does not send another image, of course not.~~

Nick sips his own drink, looks down to his book, and starts to work again.

~~And he definitely doesn't send him a full color, sound, taste feel rendition of last night. Nope.~~

He looks back to his book, humming, and after a while starts to sing, very softly.
