Bulding Site II.

Asar-Suti is in the half-finished staff quarters again.

He's been conjuring things for quite a while now: wallpaper, paint, glue, doorknobs, tiles, washbasins, rolled-up carpeting, DIY floowboards, what have you, he's busy making it.

And a few cardboard packages of purportedly easy-to-build kitchen cabinets, for those of the staff who get their own small kitchens in their quarters.

He's got a tan bathtub and nice, fiddly brown-and-green mosaic tiling already secreted away, set aside for Gil's future bathroom.

The place is busy; people are bustling about, demanding more of this or that, asking each other how something works, and lending each other hands, arms and other body parts for the more arduous tasks.

The goal of finishing this weekend looks quite realistic.

"Oh yes, a bathtub of my very own - and an extra one for you, that will be delightful. And a loo too, don't forget, and a handbasin," Gil sighs happily.

With a bathroom and a bed what more could he want, though his little bits of furniture are going to look rather lost.

Still there's always transfiguration. He has some plans in that regard.

"Awwww - won't you let me come into your bathtub?" Asar-Suti pouts.

The moment it's out of his mouth, he realises the phrasing is open to misinterpretation.

"Of course I will," Gil assures him. An answer that likewise, could mean anything, though Gil's little smile rather gives the game away.

"What colours shall we have?" he asks. "Some purple, of course, but other colours too."

"Oh, greens and browns, with just a bit of purple; it is your bathroom, after all."

Asar-Suti grins proudly. "I've already conjured a tan bathtub, and some green-and-brown tiling. And of course I won't forget the toilet; I'm doing the toilets for all the rooms tomorrow."

"Toilets are important - not as much fun as bathtubs but very important." Gil smiles and looks at the tray of steaming meat pies, the sausage rolls, the sandwiches, the pasties and cheese straws.

"I want some of those colours in the rest of my room," he said. "It'll make us hungry. On the other hand it might be a good idea to have it me coloured in case I shed in the spring."

"Light, soft beiges and browns - I think we can manage that," Asar-Suti smiles. It was what he was thinking of for Gil's room anyway."

"And there are those lovely blankets of yours and the ones Iris made and I'll make some cushions - out of ravioli."

Gil has never planned a room before. His other one just sort of happened - piles of sacking and hangings of table linen and a dresser that sort of appeared one day after he'd admitted to Sirius that he kept all his bits in a heap in the corner.

For the moment though he's planning supper.

"I'd best get back to it," he says. "Is there anything special you'd like for supper? Or shall I just um - bring up some options?"

"If Options are anything like Paradoxes, I'm all for them. Hmmm, Soft Options, all chewy and sweet - I think they would make a nice supper!"

Asar-Suti grins brightly.

Gil raises an eyebrow. "Okay, Soft Options it is," he says. He kisses Sooty's grin and pats his behind and murmurs, "They'll be the only things that'll be soft though, if I have my way. See you in a bit."

"Yes, see you then - it will be wonderful to relax with you after working all day," Asar-Suti replies, kissing Gil again before he goes.

"I'll get off early and get everything ready for you," Gil promises, planning a warm room with candles and the sort of light highly nutritious supper that gives a real boost to the energy levels without making one feel stodgy. "Later," he says and heads back to the kitchen.
