After being woken up by his daughter Ryan found it hard to go back to sleep. So, after a quick shower and change of clothes he is downstairs looking for her.
Instead of finding Chris he sees another familiar face
Gillette blinks. "A family member? Oh, no. He's my dearest friend. We were midshipmen together. He really might as well be a family member; he's more a brother to me than my own brother is." He smiles a bit. "I wouldn't want him to be Bound; I wouldn't wish that on anyone, but I do wish I could see him once in a while."
[OOC: Theo would probably be better known to the "24" pups as Michael Amador. *grin*]
[OOC: Yep, Groves. *grin* Actually, he is around here somewhere; my friend Wren's playing him, but she hasn't had time to do anything with him yet.]
Gillette shrugs. "Well, I like to think so. In the meantime, I shall have to content myself with the most notorious criminal in the Caribbean if I want the company of anyone from my own time. I daresay that isn't quite so much of a problem for you."
He orders a glass of water and takes a sip. "How old is your daughter?"
[OOC: Chase might not be in the bar for a while. He and Kim are currently having a big angsty conversation about their breakup and his AXED!hand and other such happy things, after which he will probably commence with the breakage, but he might need someone to hammer on his door and yell at him to snap him out of it when that happens.]
"Sparrow defines 'difficult,'" Gillette murmurs sourly. "That's very nice, though...my elder brother is just around her age. Have you any other children, or is she your only one?"
[OOC: I was wondering because Kim just told Ryan the whole thing about him being family and Chloe mun is online so I was wondering if we could do that whole Ryan apologizes to Chloe and Chase thing now. But if not that's cool...]
"No, I have two more children. My son Ryan is 28 and my daughter Caitlin is almost 21."
Ryan looks at the man, maybe the powdered wig had thrown him off.
Gillette is happy that the bar has seen fit to give him back his uniform, but it does seem to earn him some odd looks from the 21st-century set. "Me? Twenty-six. The commodore is only thirty himself, though, so it's not particularly remarkable, if you think about it."
Ryan tries to remember what the equivalent of a commodore was in the modern Navy. He was sure it was an admiral or rear admiral or something near that.
It has to be rear admiral.
"I guess not," he muses. "Maybe it's just harder to advance in the modern military. After their education at West Point and five years in the Army my kids both retired with the rank of Captain and that was considered a high rank for their ages."
Gillette smirks. "A very sensible way of looking at it. Myself, I'm more pleased than anything that I haven't got any children to have to worry about in the first place." He shrugs. "But you're clearly more than blessed to have children who've done so well and honorably for themselves. You ought to be very proud."
Gillette tactfully opts not to mention that he would rather chew his own arm off than procreate. "Perhaps someday I'll meet your daughter," he says. "She sounds like a most fascinating woman."
"Well, I think so but I'm biased, obviously. Actually, I think I should probably go an look for her. It was very nice speaking to you again, Lt. Gillette."

Ryan nods.
"Well, not everyone here is Bound. Chris isn't. And you never know, he may pop through one of these days."

"That would be difficult," he says with a nod. Ryan was glad that a terrorist hadn't showed up in Milliways. He hoped it would stay that way.
"Chris is my eldest so she's twenty-eight, er, no sorry. She's twenty-nine. She'll turn 29 tomorrow. At least in her time."
