After being woken up by his daughter Ryan found it hard to go back to sleep. So, after a quick shower and change of clothes he is downstairs looking for her.
Instead of finding Chris he sees another familiar face
Gillette, in a state of considerable distress, doesn't realize that he's sat down next to Ryan until he turns to order a glass of very strong brandy from the bar. "Oh," he murmurs, half-distracted. "Monsieur Chappelle. Bonjour."
Gillette would find it pleasantly comforting to carry on the entire conversation in French, but his mun doesn't want to have to Babblefish everything. "Ca va bien," he lies. "And you? What's the news with you?"
[OOC: Hee! Russian is sexy, though. Is Ryan's fluency in Russian canon, or fanon?]
Gillette raises an eyebrow. "Your daughter? How very lovely." And he actually means it, too. Ordinarily, that statement would be dripping with sarcasm. But then, ordinarily, it would be directed at Governor Swann.
[OOC: Eeeee. *giggle* That is far sexier than it should be.]
Gillette shrugs. His problems seem a tad trivial, when he considers that at least he's alive. "I can't say I'm very pleased with some of the other people the bar has seen fit to bring here," he says, after some consideration. "But...on the whole...things are tolerable."
"I can understand that feeling. I'm a little perplexed as to why the bar couldn't bring people I enjoyed working with here if they had to bring my coworkers at all. But it brought Chris here so I can't complain too much."
Gillette sighs. "Understood completely. If the bar would let Theo visit once in a while, things wouldn't be nearly so bad, but all it's given me is Jack bloody Sparrow and a particularly nasty woman named Sara."
Gillette blinks. "A family member? Oh, no. He's my dearest friend. We were midshipmen together. He really might as well be a family member; he's more a brother to me than my own brother is." He smiles a bit. "I wouldn't want him to be Bound; I wouldn't wish that on anyone, but I do wish I could see him once in a while."
[OOC: Theo would probably be better known to the "24" pups as Michael Amador. *grin*]
[OOC: Yep, Groves. *grin* Actually, he is around here somewhere; my friend Wren's playing him, but she hasn't had time to do anything with him yet.]
Gillette shrugs. "Well, I like to think so. In the meantime, I shall have to content myself with the most notorious criminal in the Caribbean if I want the company of anyone from my own time. I daresay that isn't quite so much of a problem for you."
He orders a glass of water and takes a sip. "How old is your daughter?"
"Yeah," he says after a moment. It wasn't a complete lie if things were that bad, Chris would have told him.
"It was difficult -- the suddenness and everything. Chris is from a year after so they're still trying to deal with it. But they're all together, which is good. I think they'll be ok. In time."
Kim blinks and looks down, still feeling guilty for something she could not stop - did not even realize was happening.
"I'm so sorry. I'm just so sorry about what happened to you. I wish we could have stopped it. I wish that Chris wasn't an orphan. She seems like a really nice woman."
"Kim," he begins in a soft voice, "it's not your fault. The only person to blame is Saunders. I'm just happy I have a chance to talk to one of my kids again."
"It was great. She's doing ok, she's working at Division right now but is transfering back to New York soon," he looks down and grins, "I'm just thrilled to see her again."
"She works at Division? Wow." Kim smiles a little. "I'm sure she was really thrilled to see you too. It's...I'm really happy the bar decided to do something nice for you."

"Bonjour," he replies. "Comment allez-vous?"

He shrugs.
"I'm doing pretty well. My daughter arrived here last night and I was able to speak with her. She's still here but is off looking around, probably."

"Yes, it was good to talk to her after everything," he says quietly, "And how has Milliways been treating you?"

Ryan nods.
"Well, not everyone here is Bound. Chris isn't. And you never know, he may pop through one of these days."

I'm not sure I like it too much, either, he mentally adds.
"I am too. Grateful, really."
