OMG BARTENDING POST BLING BLING :O

*Bernard emerges from the Staff Wing and walks behind the Bar.

He doesn't even ask her for cigarettes, and so he's surprised when one lonesome Camel Light appears rather sheepishly on her gleaming surface next to a shot glass and a bottle of Hacienda del Cristero.

He grins.*

Thanks, baby. Think I'll save it up.

*He looks out over the barroom and calls out the specials.*

Welcome to Milliways Happy Hour.

Food specials are chicken casserole; spinach and ricotta quiche; and beefsteak with chips, onions rings and peas.

Drink specials are Magner's cider and Harp lager.

*He pours himself a shot.*

What'll you have?

Gah. You need to take some time for yourself, at least, if things are that bad . . . actually, Vi left for a week to visit a friend . . . I bet Mary would be happy to watch her for at least a few hours a day, give you some time to ease your schedule.

That's a relief. What's the new place like?

Sounds great. I'll invite you to see our new wing in the House of Arch, if the bar lets you.

*Snow smiles*

It's things like this that make it really sink in . . . we're setting in roots and barely thinking about what we left behind.

*Snow gives a serious nod*

All right. I was just wondering.

I think about my sister sometimes, but she's been here before and I don't feel like I'll never see her again. She was really the only family I had. Beyond that, I had few close friends back home, and though there's some I wouldn't mind seeing again, I know there'd be major chaos if I actually went back.

*Snow nods*

I hope they manage a visit. The bar isn't the life for everyone, I realize that. But. It's the best choice for me right now, and the best choice I have for a place to raise the kids.

There might be someone who can travel to your world, pass a message on or something.

*a wide smile*

They got to meet Tonks? When was this?

[identity profile] fairest1.livejournal.com 2005-03-19 11:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Hm. One of the Endless, maybe? They'd be able to go to your specific world and not the alternate timeline . . .

*a soft smile*

At least they've met her, and got along well.

*she looks to the side, her face closed*
No nasty surprises if they do show up.

Well, if she doesn't introduce herself by name, it might go smoothly. . .

Haven't met Bigby's parents yet, but I'm more worried about my own showing up. We didn't exactly see eye to eye on things.

My stepmother . . . was another issue entirely. My parents were real traditionalists. Raised me from birth to always be looking for a nice prince on a white horse and all that, were incredibly supportive when I married Charming. I pretty much cut off contact with them after the divorce, after how they reacted.

I'm afraid to find out what they'd think of Bigby.

[identity profile] fairest1.livejournal.com 2005-03-19 11:37 pm (UTC)(link)
That must have been wonderful. Back in the homelands, parents had different takes on things . . . some demanded that their children only date others of royal blood, but some were more lenient, shrugging things off if the guy was a frog or beast or something when they met.

Heh. Sometimes I wonder what things would have been like if Bigby had found me earlier.

*Snow gives a genuine smile*

No doubt.

*Snow nods*

Of course. Have a good evening, Bernard.

*and she heads off to speak with Virginia*
