Ryan is sitting at the bar.

He didn't sleep very well.

Right now he's smoking his ~~second~~ third cigarette, drinking coffee and thinking.

Bother him if you want but be warned - he's not in the best mood.

He probably doesn't expect the way her eyes widen and the look of sheer horror that suddenly appears on her face. Oh God.

"So she knows?"

He nods.

"Are you ok, Kim?"

She tries to control the fear that's suddenly slipped into her mind.

"Yeah, I'm fine."

He doesn't believe her but if she doesn't want talk he won't push her.

"So, what's going on with you."

"Well, I talked to Tony last night and I told him that Chase and I were back together and he took it...about as well as I expected."

"That must have been a difficult conversation" he says after taking a drag of his cigarette.

"Tony needs to stop looking for other people to save him."

Kim nods at the first comment. "It was but...not as hard as I feared.

Kim pales a bit at the second comment.

Ryan notices Kim's change in demeanor and signs inwardly.

"I'm sorry, Kim. I don't mean to put you on the spot. I know you care about Tony."

Kim tries to smile a bit. "It's not that Ryan just...something you said made me think of something."

Ryan nods.

"Has the bar given you any interesting books recently?"

"I'm still on Angels and Demons. Although I met a nice young woman who said she has a large library of books."

"Angels and Demons by Dan Brown?" he says, wrinkling his nose a bit.

Kim nods. "You've read it?"

"No, I read Brown's other "masterpiece" The DaVinci Code after one of my cousins gave it to me as a gift. I kept telling her I wasn't interested in it but she thought the book was brilliant so she gave it to me. I sent it back to her with red notes in the margin explaining what Brown got wrong. She didn't talk to me for a while after that."

Well that actually makes Kim giggle.

"So you gave her her very own annotated version."

"I did," he replies in an amused tone.

"You'd think she'd save it for posterity."

"I really think she should otherwise if he writes a third book with the same character she might be lost."

"I can't believe that book was a bestseller," he says with a note of disgust.

"At least the movie flopped."

"Well, I never read the Da Vinci Code but as I go through Angels and Demons I try to picture Tom Hanks as this guy and...I just can't."

"I don't think the makers of the movie were going for good casting. They just wanted a big name star who they thought would fill the seats. Could have been Tom Cruise for all that mattered."
