milliways_bar | Ingress's Sixth Birthday Party

*It's eleven o'clock on Saturday morning, thanks to Millitime, and the stage is set for Ingress's birthday out by the lake. The House of Arch family has gathered around a perfect picnic spot under a tree. Right beside them is a playground Tom has conjured just for the occaision. There is a swingset, a slide, a merry go round, and a sandbox charmed with sand that's perfect for building.

Ingress is wearing a gown fit for a princess. It has been charmed against stains and ripping just for this special day. She is also wearing a blinking button which reads "I am 6!" She is very, very, very excited.

Tom, Door, Gavroche, and Megwyn are putting finishing decorating touches on the picnic tables set up with a gigantic cake, gallons of ice cream from Florean Fontescue's ice cream parlor, and punch. There is also a table with baskets of wizarding crackers. These are gifts for the guests - once the crackers are popped, the recipient will get a hat of some kind (maybe there will be a plethora of pirate hats!) and a wizarding toy or game like chess or gobstones. Or whatever else you'd like - the guest gets to decide!

There are several chairs under the tree as well, providing a good view of the playground.

Thanks, Shock! I'm glad you came. Do you want some cake?

"Cake? What kind? If it's carrot, I won't. But I'll have chocolate or vanilla. I like chocolate and vanilla."

My cake has both! Come on, let's get some.

Shock follows Ingress to get some cake and boggles at the amount of cakes that there are.
She takes some of the chocolate and tries a bite.
"This is GOOD!"

*Ingress gets her second piece and digs in. Through a mouthful of cake she speaks.*

Mmm hmm, and ice cream too, we have to have ice cream.

*She scoops some on their plates.*

"Thanks!" Shock beams. "How old are you?" This, like Ingress, is said through a mouthful of cake.

I'm six.

Shock smiles through another bite of cake and ice cream.
"Have you got many presents?"

I got tons of presents. Oh, but I have a present for you, too!

*She gets the basket of magical crackers.*

Pick one out.

"Ok." Shock pushes her hand all the way to the bottom and grabs a cracker.
She looks for a string and doesn't find one. So she just pulls it apart at the ends.
A yo-yo falls out.
Shock looks at it curiously.

Oh, good, you'll like that one. What hat did you get?

Look up inside the tube part.

Shock picks up the yo-yo.
"I'm supposed to get a hat? I've already got one though." She puts her hand out for the tube.

You can have another one, silly!

Shock takes the tube and looks inside. A small piece of something is in there alright.
She pulls at it and out pops a lavender top hat.
Shock takes off her witch hat and puts the top hat on her head at an angle.
"Is it ok?"

It's brilliant! I love it.

Shock takes another bite of ice cream.
"Are there going to be games?"

Sure! We can play Ring Around the Rosie or Hide and Seek or Tag or Blindman's Bluff.

OR we can play monsters.

Ingress said the magic word! "MONSTERS!"

Alright! We can both be monsters. And were going to...

*She looks around and runs to the sand box. She starts building castles.*

We're going to attack this city and stomp it down!

Shock runs after Ingress to the sandbox and starts to dig a big moat around the city. She piles the dirt in the middle for Ingress to use for the city.
"Let's make it BIG!"

Yeah! We have to have lots a lots of buildings to smash.

*She gets to work.*

Shock digs and piles more sand, and when she's done, she moves to get out of the moat.
But she can't. She's stuck. Down in the moat. The deep deep moat.

Wow, how'd you dig such a deep hole?

*She reaches down to take Shock' hands to help her out.*

"I just kept digging and digging. I like to dig a lot. I'm really fast too."
Shock puts one hand on the edge of the moat and the other in Ingress's hands and pulls herself up.
It really wasn't that deep of a hole after all.

Now.

*She makes a snarly face.*

We are monsters and we need to smash stuff!
