milliways_bar | Ingress's Sixth Birthday Party

*It's eleven o'clock on Saturday morning, thanks to Millitime, and the stage is set for Ingress's birthday out by the lake. The House of Arch family has gathered around a perfect picnic spot under a tree. Right beside them is a playground Tom has conjured just for the occaision. There is a swingset, a slide, a merry go round, and a sandbox charmed with sand that's perfect for building.

Ingress is wearing a gown fit for a princess. It has been charmed against stains and ripping just for this special day. She is also wearing a blinking button which reads "I am 6!" She is very, very, very excited.

Tom, Door, Gavroche, and Megwyn are putting finishing decorating touches on the picnic tables set up with a gigantic cake, gallons of ice cream from Florean Fontescue's ice cream parlor, and punch. There is also a table with baskets of wizarding crackers. These are gifts for the guests - once the crackers are popped, the recipient will get a hat of some kind (maybe there will be a plethora of pirate hats!) and a wizarding toy or game like chess or gobstones. Or whatever else you'd like - the guest gets to decide!

There are several chairs under the tree as well, providing a good view of the playground.

Hi Beowulf!

*She pets him.*

Do you like cake?

Beowulf can't talk... 'cause he's a dog... but he can wag his tail and lick Ingress' face.

Which probably means that he likes cake... or Ingress. Maybe both.

Then let's get you some cake!

*She goes to the table and brings down a plate with white cake.*

Here you are. That's a good doggie.

Beowulf, being a dog and mostly on his own, as Van Helsing is otherwise occupied and Dawn's not being the best of dog-sitters... well, she's just *over there* but anyway...

Beowulf chomps on the cake and gets frosting all over his nose.

He's still wagging his tail though.

Hey, do you want to play on the merry go round? Or go on the slide?

*Ingress has little experience with dogs.*

Beowulf tilts his doggie head, licking frosting off his nose, and seems to look at though he'll go wherever Ingress goes.

Come on, then. We'll go play!

*She takes him to the merry go round and pats it for Beowulf to hop up.*

I'll push you first.

Beowulf looks between Ingress and the 'toy' then jumps up and sits down. He licks her face once before she gets started.

Here we... go!

*She begins running, pushing the merry go round. She gets it going fast and then jump on by Beowulf.*

Wheeeeeeeeeeee!

The sudden 'round and round' motion makes Beowulf get to his feet and look around a bit disturbed... but he can't figure a way to jump off without getting stuck, so he turns to Ingress and just stares at her.

*She does notice the dog doesn't look as cheerful as before, so she lets the merry go round stop.*

I know, we can go down the slide next. I bet you'll like the slide.

Beowulf just tilts his head at her again, then jumps off the merry-go-round as soon as it stops. He walks kinda crooked for a minute, then is bounding around Ingress and licking her face again. Ground good.

Okay, up you get!

*She gets behind him and pushes him up the steps of the slide. Poor Beowulf.*

Yes, poor Beowulf, but he doesn't know that dogs aren't supposed to go down slides, so, he does his best clambering up the steps, then stands at the top, waiting for Ingress.

*She climbs up and sits down.*

Come sit on my lap and away we'll go!

Beowulf - nearly as big as Ingress - sort of sits on her lap... hey, he doesn't know that he's too big.

*Neither does she! They slide down together, with Ingress squealing the whole way.*

If Ingress hand't been holding on, Beowulf would've gone scrambling off the slide. But, he was being Ingress-hugged, so, he stayed on and jumps off at the end, tail wagging and he licks her face again. Don't know that he'd classify it as 'fun', but apparently, he didn't hate it.

You're a great dog!

You want to go rest now? I want to go sit down.

Beowulf just follows wherever Ingress goes. If she sits, he'll sit or lay down next to her. If she has cake, he'll have cake. If she jumps in the lake, he'll jump in the lake. Beowulf thinks Ingress is fun!

*Ingress thinks Beowulf is pretty fun, too. But right now, as they sit down together, he's also very comfy. She leans on him, her arms around his neck and takes a little break.*

Beowulf is happy to lay down on the ground, panting a little, his tail thumping on the ground.
