Jack is carving today, outside under the trees with a view of the new grave. He is humming to himself.

Under his hands the block of wood is taking on a curving horn-shape, with a texture as if it were woven from reeds. There are almost no shavings on the ground.

"Oooh, fascinating - what does it do?"

Whee, new magic!

"A cornucopia? A real working one, not just a carved symbol somewhere?" Asar-Suti is impressed.

He would just conjure the food out of the atoms in the air, but the way Green!Jack plans to do it sounds infinitely more stylish, and with an additional potential for surprise. You never quite know what might come out of a cornucopia.

"What is Dagda's cup?" Asar-Suti asks, curious. Magic that Milliways would not tolerate? Milliways, the palce where all magic works so much more easily?

"Oh, but Earth magic worked through me, even though this is just a small non-linear worldlet off the normal reality," Asar-Suti says. "But I can believe that some sorts of magic will not work away from their home."

"I'm sure your cornucopia will be up to all that is asked of it," Asar-Suti agrees. "Magic overkill is never good. Why use the magical sword of the Kings of the West to carve a turkey? That cup of Dagda sounds like strong magic - you don't have an army to feed, just a crowd of well-fed Milliwaysers."

"Oooh - games?" Asar-Suti grins. He'd heard about the dancing, but games might be a new kind of fun.

[identity profile] asar-suti.livejournal.com 2005-06-20 10:57 pm (UTC)(link)
"There's a lot of them here now," Asar-Suti says. "Seth or Joshua might still be too young for games, but Sunny definitely isn't."

He shrugs. "The only thing that might yet ruin the party is the air of general doom; I have no idea what happened to make so many people so subdued."

"Death? Who died?" Asar-Suti sounds alarmed.

[identity profile] asar-suti.livejournal.com 2005-06-20 11:12 pm (UTC)(link)
"But that has been here a few days," Asar-Suti says. "And the great feeling of doom only descended sometime between last night and this morning."

Asar-Suti nods.

"Worrying, waiting, and fearing for those that you care for are the worst things there are," he agrees.

"There is an air of sadness, of fight, of uncertainty in this place - I can't be more precise, as I no longer have what the Hellfly gave me to confuse me," Asar-Suti says.

[identity profile] asar-suti.livejournal.com 2005-06-20 11:52 pm (UTC)(link)
"I wish I knew how to help," Asar-Suti says.

He's a practical kind of god, an he doesn't like to stand by when things start going wrong.

[identity profile] asar-suti.livejournal.com 2005-06-21 12:08 am (UTC)(link)
Asar-Suti nods. "Yes, I suppose that will have to be it," he agrees. "I can help by listening and being there, and not doing anything - I learned about that in he week that I had that other magic, from the Hellfly. It is a bit hard to accept, though; I'd like to do more."

[[OOC: I think by then, I might be gone, as it's late here, and all that - the usual. I think this might be good for a wrap if I am indeed gone.]]
