Faith is curled up on one of the sofas in front of the fireplace, coffee cup in hand and a pensieve expression on her face.
Yeah, Faith's thinking. No it doesn't hurt.
Yeah, Faith's thinking. No it doesn't hurt.

He leans on the railing and looks up at her,
"There will never be cars on Athera. There will never be towers like this New York. The planet that humanity came from, in my universe, died. We were lost, wandering the stars. The Fellowship...the same Fellowship as now...was drawn to Athera by magics; they were needed to stop the Khadrim from destroying the world as much as humans had.
Because they helped, they were allowed to bring their people to Athera, but the sciences were denied us. For a time those who studied the forbidden were sent to a splinter world...and from that came Desh-theire, which I was born to fight.
Now they take even the memory of what was thought from those who seek to study what should not be recreated."
His voice is matter of fact.

And nothing she could say would help.
So she doesn't speak, just puts her arm around his waist and leans against him in an odd sort of half-embrace.

"I think I am ready to return. You world is overwhelming, beautiful in many ways, but overwhelming."
no subject
"Quick trip to the seashore, and then home, or do you want to save the water for next time?"
no subject
He says with a smile for her,
"Parceling out joys is often best."
no subject
"OK, then," she says, and takes his arm again, leading him out of the park and back toward home.
no subject
that. A gentle tug on her sleeve,
"Jiask? Can we look in the swords shop, there?"
no subject
"...Arithon? Have you ever known me to turn down weapons shopping?"
Grin.

He points out, and performs something that is half-way between a turn and a dance-step to put them on a path into the building.
Its a good shop, clean, smelling of the oils which keep swords protected, and with everything set out so that it can be easily seen.

Mmmmshinysharp.
no subject
"Jiask? Would you be so kind as to test these?"
There (http://jodysamson.com/images/News/jnews1-10-04/spatha1.jpg) are (http://www.odinblades.com/Swords2k/SpathaX.jpg) three (http://www.armillum.com/Fotitis/Spatha2002-grande.jpg) of the ones he wants her to pick from, all about 3 feet long, with the same general build.
no subject
She juggles.
All three, at once.
no subject
"Do let me know which you like best, Jiask."
And he starts counting out money for the other two. He can get reimbursed for Ingress', he's certain. She needs to start learning with something metal.
no subject
"That one (http://www.odinblades.com/Swords2k/SpathaX.jpg)."
no subject
"When we get back,"
He mentions as they leave,
"I will put a ward on it for you. What would you like it to be able to do?"
no subject
Faith blinks at him, rather a lot.
"You're serious?"
no subject
He grins up at her,
"A very nice one, handed down for 1,504 generations of s'Ffalenn. Why would I need another?"
no subject
Stare.
"...wow. What...thank you. You don't have to...what can you make it do?"
no subject
He considers, brow wrinkling,
"I could cause it to give you warning if magic was being used on you. I could cause it to disrupt spells sent at you. Only one or two of the above, however. More might interfere with the strength of the metal."
no subject
"...uhm. Wow. I. Can. Think? Because. Wow. That's...wow."
Beat.
"I can already see in the dark though. Slayer thing. And there's a couple of the kind of vampires I hunt in Milliways, so..."
no subject
He grins again,
"Seeing in the dark is terribly useful, is it not? There are? May I ask whom?"
no subject
no subject
He's trying to figure out if he can tell where they are.
Nope. He's lost.
