Even without the blaring music from the headphones, Tim still would have successfully snuck up on Kon as usual. But this time, he did have the aid of the headphones, so Kon didn't seem to be aware of his presence immediately.

So, just for fun, he poked Kon in the side.

Thinking, thinking, thinking... Thinking harder! And then thinking some more. Kon's using up all sorts of lovely brainstorms and thought patterns today, and he's just on a good one when it's interrupted by the worst thing of all -- POKE! Not even a little one either, but one in the -side-.

Oh, that's just not right.

And he can't even be properly annoyed at it, because after he jumps and shows all the signs of being surprised, he sees that it's Tim. But that's okay, he'll sacrifice a bout of proper annoyance to see him. Sweet, right?

So he'll just go for playfully annoyed as he takes off the headphones and sticks his tongue out at the other boy. "Nice way to greet a guy, Tim."

"I'm not the one that was so lost in his music that he didn't realize that someone was standing near him," he teased as he smiled slightly. "And real mature, you know, sticking your tongue out at me in retaliation. Ooh, I'm scared."

He was teasing, of course, and it showed when he grinned at the other boy.

"Well, it was never meant to -scare- you. I don't think a tongue could ever be threatening." And if it could? Kon just doesn't want to know about it. He'll stick in his happy world of unimposing tongues, thankyouverymuch.

Tim just rolled his eyes at that, shaking his head as he sat down in the seat across from Kon. He glanced at the blank sheet of paper set in front of the other boy that Kon had been so intently staring at.

"So you've moved on from staring at walls to paper?"

"I'm trying to remember something," Kon explains. "And I can't remember it." It's frustrating, is what it is... but unfortunately he can't seem to sort it out. "It'll probably come to me when it's inconvenient."

"Like when you're in bed at three in the morning?" Because that even happened to Tim. Not that Tim went to bed all that early, anyway. But he did sleep every now and then. He was still human, after all.

"Exactly. Or during a really hard class." Although that might be appreciated during a hard class - an excuse to have a distraction from the brain melt! Hmm.

But it would also mean that Kon would get distracted and be behind in his work again. Which would be bad, because it could lead to grounding from the Kents once again.

"Well, I wish the best of luck to you on that," Tim said with a nod. No matter what people said, he couldn't read minds, after all.

Of course he can! He's just not aware of it.

"Thanks," Kon says, and stuffs the notebook into his backpack. Might as well put it away, he's not going to pay attention to it -now-. "So how're you doing?"

Tim just shrugged at that.

"The same as always, I guess. Student by day, crime fighter by night." He still had bruises from last night, since all the villains and crooks that seemed to have something against Nightwing seemed to want to challenge him.

"Nothing exciting or new?" Kon had had a boring day - heck, a boring week. He wanted to hear stories! Tim surely had some interesting ones.

Well, there was that tiny little fact that he was in Bludhaven now. Or that Batgirl had moved there as well. Or the fact that Penguin had put them against each other for a little game.

But Tim wasn't going to mention any of those things, of course.

"There was a robber who clocked himself in the face in a clumsy attempt to hit me."

Kon blinks at that. "What was he, drunk?" That would be the saddest way ever to go to jail. Knock yourself out. Did that make the person a good samaritan?

"Just uncoordinated, I'm afraid. Didn't smell any alcohol on him," Tim said with a shrug of his shoulders. Hey, he wasn't complaining. It was amusing, but it had saved him some trouble.

"His partner was a bit more coordinated, though. But it hadn't helped that the other guy fell on top of him."

"So it was a pretty easy fight all around, huh?" It would be nice if that sort happened more often, but unfortunately that wasn't the case in their business. Had to take it when it came. "Did you thank them for their assistance?"

Tim's lips twitched into a faint grin at that.

"Of course. What kind of upstanding citizen would I be if I didn't show them the proper courtesy for their help?"

"Especially after they put in so much -effort- for you." Or rather, such idiocy. But hey, sometimes there wasn't a difference. Kon knew that from experience! ...and wasn't afraid to admit it!

"I know. Made the whole thing much easier on me and my ego," Tim said in a deadpan fashion. He couldn't help cracking a grin a moment later, though.

Kon grins back just a little. "Well, I'm sure there was plenty of other guys around to boost your ego back up." It wasn't as if Gotham was lacking in crime, anyway. And if it was? Kon would wonder exactly when he'd fallen into the Twilight Zone.

"Not at all. If anything, it seems that criminals are coming out of the wood works to get their egos beaten out of them." Or, in some cases, they beat them out of Tim. But Tim wasn't going to admit that, because that'd entail him having to describe Cassandra coming to his rescue.

Kon blinks at that. "Why?" That didn't exactly sound normal for Gotham. Unless something bad was going down again, and ooookay, now he's trying hard not to look worried. "Full moon or something?"

...Maybe he shouldn't have mentioned that. But Tim was finding it harder and harder to lie nonchalantly to Kon's face. Which he found a bit disconcerting, if he was honest about it.

"Something like that," he said with a shrug, trying to make it sound as if it were nothing.

"Something like that?" Kon's brow furrows slightly as he tries to figure that out. "What do you mean?" Was Tim hiding something again? Oy.

"Criminals can be odd at times. Perhaps they're having a competition or bet on who can off the Boy Wonder first," he said as if what he had said earlier hadn't been suspicious at all.
