Nita's practicing the piano. Good for her. The tune is simple, easily recognizable for people from a certain time.

After a little while, she starts to sing -- softly, since she's not that confident in her singing abilities still.

"What else is there, besides errantry?" He raises an eyebrow.

"'Errantry' covers a lot of different things. It can be stuff in the field, but it can be research, too. I spent a while just working on the Speech, in January."

"The Speech is what you made your spell in, and what you were reading before, right? The language that everyone understands?"

"Yeah."

"So do you actually have to learn it? I mean... wouldn't you understand it immediately?"

She tilts her head. "Wizards have a natural talent for it, but even so -- the Enactive Recesion still makes my brain hurt."

"...the what now?"

Duo is good at tech. His vocabulary has not yet expanded to complicated magics.

"You don't want to know," she grins.

"Yeah... I'll keep my brain for tonight, I think. Techno babble is bad enough when I'm doing it. I don't have enough patience."

She laughs. "But if you're interested, I could pull out my manual some time and show you some of the basics."

He laughs. "Maybe when I get the hang of what I'm learning, first. And it would be handy to know, but I don't know if it would work in my world. But if it did, hooray. No more languages to learn."

She grins. "Oh, no se. Hay cosas buenas cuando se aprende unas linguas nuevas."
Oh, I don't know. There are good things when you learn new languages.

"Zettaini sou desu, tensai-teki."

Absolutely, genius.

"Like picking up hot foreign guys?" He smirks.

She blushes, but she's not about to back down. "He picked me up."

Duo's eyebrows shoot up. "Rakkii na hito ne! Foreign, check. Was he hot?"

"Do I need to make the disapproving older brother face, or braid your hair to get the details?"

She sticks out her tongue. "Not that it's any of your business, but yes." Beat. Blush. "I thought so, anyway."

Duo waggles his eyebrows at her. "Hey, if you tell me, it's my business you'll never get rid of me now. How foreign are we talking here? Like, other universes?"

She facepalms. "Noooo. Irish."

Duo nods approvingly. "Irish accents are hot, aren't they? Did he have freckles?"

Muffled -- "Black hair blue eyes.*

"A very nice combination. They always seem to be the brooding, heroic type, though."

She looks up. "He had a chip on his shoulder almost as big as Peach's." Beat. "Which is appropriate, I guess."

"She did seem a little... not cynical so much as overly experienced. I sympathize. Why's it appropriate?"

"Those who serve the Powers, themselves become the Powers."

Which is not an explanation.

No, but he's heard that before. "Wait wait wait. Are you saying that you got picked up by a hot Irish guy who was partly a Warrior of Light, and therefore an aspect of your parrot roommate?"
