It is a known fact that a mun who once rpsterbates will, in fact, give in to rpsterbating again, even if she had sworn never to, for the sake of her sanity.

This may be why Kitty is sitting with Sunny on her lap, an amused expression on her face.

The amused expression may be caused by the fact that Sunny is reading to her Alice in Wonderland, pausing now and again to babble about one part of the story or another.

"Long day?"

Sunny is passed over, still frowning, and glaring at a drawing of a chess piece. "No 'log'cal," is muttered again.

Susan presses a kiss to the top of the little girl's head and bounces her lightly on her knee.

"I thought I'd try to catch up on all that's been done in the stables while I were gone," she says. "Caspian and Lisa did very well, I wot, but I'd feel better knowing."

And if work is a distraction, well, mayhap there's naught amiss with that.

No, not a thing.

Sunny looks up at Susan and says, grumpily, "Cawwol dumbass," and goes back to her book, curling against Susan as she does so.

Kitty facepalms, but figures that it's not her job to try and improve Sunny's language.

She's not INSANE about trying impossible things.

"So everything's alright, I imagine?"

Susan cuddles the little girl close and tells her, "Ah, Sunny-soh, but the stories are true."

Looking up at Kitty, she adds quietly, "The horses and all? Aye, they're fine."

It's not a complete answer, but it's at least part of one.

"No sense," muttered, even as she turns the page and snuggles closer.

"The horses and all," Kitty agrees, "and you."

"Stories don't always make sense," Susan tells her. "There are things here I'd never have believed until I saw them, do'ee ken?"

She's still looking down at the top of Sunny's head as she tells Kitty,

"I'm-- I'm well enough. 'Bert's better, and that helps."

"'Ike sense," grumpily still. Not that Sunny has high standards for "sense" but still!

"I'm glad of that," Kitty answers, watching her.

Susan laughs, a little, and brushes Sunny's fair hair back from her forehead.

"I'd not have thought a horse with wings would make any sense until seeing two of them here, Sunny-soh." Absently, she rocks the little girl back and forth.

"And ye, Kitty? Ye're well, I'd hope?"

...Okay, point in Suzy's favour. Sunny gives a long-suffering sigh, anyway, and turns back to the part about the cat.

"Well as can be expected, yes," she nods.

She cuddles Sunny as she reads and turns more of her attention back to Kitty.

"... as can be expected?" Worried now, mayhap.

"Long week. School starts Friday, and that means having my lesson plans finished. And I think I'm ending up legal guardian to a student."

She blinks.

"Ye're to be guarding a student?"

She shrugs. "More or less. A high percentage of the students who attend the institute are either orphans or have parents who don't want a mutant child. They sign their rights over to the school, in that case. The headmaster and headmistress, generally speaking, are the guardians, but sometimes a different teacher is. My friend Dani is for a boy, Hank is for a few students. I said I'd be guardian for one."

"Oh," she says quietly, looking back down at Sunny.

"That's-- that's good of ye, then."

She shrugs, pausing as Sunny shows her a picture and asks a Very Important Question.

"...No, you cannot throw pepper at the dragon's nose. If he sneezes, it'll be messy." Then, to answer Susan, "Not really. All I do is have the rights to have medical care given, if he or she needs it, and sign any legal documents that might need signing. But someone has to."

She looks a little confused, now.

"I don't-- the right to have medical care given?"

Legal documents she kens, contracts and the like, but this is mayhap not something she's encountered before.

"If a person is underage, their legal guardian has to sign the papers when they need medical attention."

"Oh," she says. Pause. "All right."

Less strange than other things she's come to accept, oh aye.

Still pretty weird, but yeah.

"Anyway. Long week. Month. Year. Lifetime. All that." Beat. "The demon bunny tried to eat my dragon."

...

This would be Susan Delgado staring at Kitty in rather a great deal of surprise.

Kitty stares back.

Sunny discovers why a raven is like a writing desk, and tells no one.

"What?"

"The demon bunny tried to eat yer dragon?"

"...Yes?"

Roland's not here to say it, and Susan wouldn't, say sorry. But still... oh yeah.

"... oh." A pause. "Is -- is yer dragon all right?"

"More or less. He tried to fry the demon bunny."
