An attractive entrance...

Thomas Raith, formerly of the leading House of the White Court, scrounges around in the ice box for a minute before looking up with a grumble.

"Harry, we're out of beer ag--"

Blink.

Stare.

"Okay, no shortage of beer, I'm thinking, but sudden shortage of apartment."

He winces.

"Harry's going to kill me."

And she felt that difference, and she noted it. It was odd, and not something she quite felt when she was meeting someone for the first time. And since she had grown up in the world where people weren't quite what they seemed, she always made sure to be a bit wary when something was a little off.

And honestly, this man could give her father a run for his money. Which, actually, would be quite interesting to watch with the younger version of her father in the bar and all.

"Because the Bar wanted you here," Lian answered plainly, a smile twiching at the corner of her lips. "No one really knows how it works, but it seems to pull people at random. Or so it seems."

Well, at least he was taking it well. And really, this was a nice place, if you didn't get a headache over how it could exist and how it could bring you here.

"I've never thought of it that way before, but I guess you're right." She cocked her head to one side thoughtfully before smiling faintly. "Speaking of, first drink is on the house."

The offer surprised her a little, but that didn't mean she didn't appreciate it. She smiled softly at Thomas.

"I think I'll take you up on that, Thomas." She had come in a little while ago from target practice, after all. "A lemonade, if you could. And oh, if the bartender's not there, you can just ask the bar."

Because, you know, talking to an inanimate object wasn't strange at all. Nope.

He really was charming, wasn't he? Lian couldn't help but observe that once again, taking note of it. Lian herself had never been the social butterfly, but this was nice.

She put her arm through his, smiling up at him as well.

"It'd be my pleasure." And off to the bar they went. Which really wasn't that far away, really.

Hmm. A gentleman, too. Which was always a definite plus. She was beginning to really like this man. Perhaps they could be friends?

With a slight laugh, she ordered her drink.

"A lemonade please," she asked the bar, since the bartender was not present. And, of course, she delivered -- a nice cold glass of lemonade, just how she liked it.

"Thank you," she told the bar, patting her surface.

"The Bar is a very smart and caring being," she explained with a smile before taking a sip of her lemonade. Not too sweet, as usual.

"She can pretty much provide you with anything you need, if you simply ask. If you plan on staying, whether for a long period of time or for just a night, you can ask for a room." Because, hey. Her initial motive was to help the man out with adjusting here.

"If you can't pay right away, the Bar will start a tab for you. And you can pay that off anytime you want," she informed him with a nod. She was on the tab system herself, since she was currently unemployed and living at Milliways.

And it was probably a good thing that Lian had a lot of self-control, then. Came with the crime-fighting territory.

"Not that I know of, no." Lian shook her head, laughing a bit. "But there are employees here, and since I don't know what all the positions are, I can't guarentee that people won't come after you," she mused, an impish gleam in her eyes.

"Well, no one's come after me yet, so I think it's not too bad," Lian said with a laugh, "unless my father's paying the tab, of course." Which was very likely.

"Ooh?" Lian asked in a curious tone, one brow rising. "Would there be any particular reason why?"
