"Thee are? It's the end of this moon--month," she corrects herself. "The thirtieth, he said."

"Ever been to Vegas, Susan?"
no subject
"I've not, nay-- I've been to no city other than for Nymphadora's party, but I've heard of Vegas, at least."
no subject
"I think he's going to love it or kill me or both."
no subject
"Let's hope for the first, then."

Grinning, she reaches over and plucks a piece of straw out of Susan's hair.
"So, what're the odds I can tear you away from the stables long enough to come along?"
no subject
Susan looks ruefully at the straw and adds, "I've -- I should have braided my hair again before working more on those. It keeps getting tangled."
no subject
"Working on what, exactly?"
no subject
"These-- there are other shapes, too, and it's part of the bride-gifts I'm making, do'ee ken?"
no subject
"Susan, that's beautiful. You're going to have such a pretty wedding."

Beat.
"Which reminds me." Susan's giving Lilly an all-too-innocent glance, now. "There were something I wanted to ask..."
no subject
"Oh? What is it?"
no subject
It's a simple question, mayhap, but Susan's nearly holding her breath.
no subject
"Really? You'd... you'd want me to stand with you?"
The smile's brighter and warmer now.
"Oh, Susan. I'd be totally honored."
no subject
"I'm so glad. Thankee-sai, Lilly." A beat, and a mischievous giggle.
"Alain's to stand with 'Bert, I wot."
no subject
"Oh, is he? Well, he's one of Bert's best friends, so I don't see what's so funny about that, really."
no subject
"Now, sai, do'ee tell me why ye look so tired, hmm?"
no subject
"It happens, you ken? It's one of the many reasons I am so grateful for coffee."
no subject
"I kennit, Lilly."
A careful look. "But all's well-- ye weren't awake troubled, were thee?"
It says a lot about Susan's own late nights, some of them, that she'd think ot ask it, mayhap.
no subject
"Not really. I'm just kinda... thinking of Neptune too much, I guess."
It's the truth, just not all of it.

(the peace of the clearing)
Susan shakes her head as if to clear it, then nods.
(the wind soughing through the grass on the Drop and the sunlight off the sea in the distance)
"Oh, Lilly." A gentle hand, on hers. "I kennit, say true."
no subject
"It'll pass, though. Nothing to worry about. Now, what I have to wear at your wedding? That's something that needs some serious discussion."
