Faith's not certain what Kitty's plans for Edmund entail, but the phrase Won't be back for a while probably means it's gonna be good fun for both of them.

Never one to stand in the way of romance or intercourse, she has agreed to take Ed's bartending shift for the night.

Which is why she's behind the bar, clad in a very short red leather miniskirt and matching (backless) halter top, nervous and trying to hide it.

Faith grins, mixes herself one, and tosses it back.

Not a blink.

"Yeah, it's pretty strong."

He watches her with wonder and disbelief, and then takes another cautious sip.

"Much stronger than anything I've had," he admits. "I am Boromir, son of Denethor. What do they call you?"

"I'm Faith," she says, and holds out her hand. "Faith Lehane."

He rises from the stool and takes her hand, kisses the back simply and sits again. "That's a lovely name."

"Thank you."

Faith considers. "I think I've heard yours before, actually...from a friend. Melaka Fray."

"Yes, we've met. She's adept with swords.

"I've been here several months, but I don't socialize much, I'm afraid."

"She's from my world," Faith says. "We have...well, I probably have more formal training than her...I like swords."

"I will have to show my mine at some point."

Double entendres are rare in Middle Earth. Just so you know.

"That'd be nice. I'll go easy on you."

Not rare with Faith.

He raises an eyebrow. "You must be a warrior-woman like Mel, if you think you can match a soldier in swordsmanship."

"I am," Faith says, nodding. "I've been one for a lot longer than her, too."

"I am very impressed. Women of your time are very strong compared to women of mine."

"It's a little more complicated than that...uhm, how much did Mel tell you about herself?"

"She told me she fights evil and vampires. She had to explain what vampires are--we don't have them in Middle Earth."

"Right. Well, we're...enhanced, magically, to make us able to do that," Faith explains. "We're both stronger than...oh, any ten or so human men."

"You're magical beings?"

Faith nods.

"We can't use magic ourselves, but yes, we are."

"That's . . . That's . . . I have met many interesting people here."

"Yeah, this place is good for that."

"So I've learned. It's not the afterlife I expected."

"...ouch. No, I guess it wouldn't be."

Faith pours him another drink.

"Thank you.

"I thought it was common to meet the dead here."

"It is," Faith says. "That doesn't make it any easier on you, though, does it?"

"Being dead?" He shrugs. "It's better than oblivion, I suppose."

"Yeah, I guess it would be, at that."

Faith still looks sympathetic.
